This is a career ladder progression position; the duties described below are at the GS-11 level. If selected at a grade below GS-11, the incumbent will serve in a developmental capacity, wherein the work is less complex in nature and the supervisor, or a senior level employee provides specific instruction and guidance. At the GS-11 grade level, the incumbent:

• Independently conducts a wide variety of onsite safety and health inspections and investigations of mining operations as applicable, mills, preparation plants and related facilities.
• Prepares written reports of inspections and investigations, issuing citations and orders for violations found during examinations.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Provides technical advice and guidance to mine operators to help them solve problems and comply with mine safety and health requirements.
• Assists mine operators in the planning of modifications to improve and/or correct deficiencies in the operation such as selecting and installing new equipment and changing materials or methods.
• Promotes safety and health among mine operators and workers by directing and participating in safety and health training programs, meetings, demonstrations, mine rescue competitions, and related activities.
• Serves as a MSHA representative and information source on mine safety and health.
• Testifies at judicial hearings regarding notices of violations and orders of withdrawal.

Work Environment: The incumbent inspects and/or investigates both surface and underground mining operations as applicable, which is a very hazardous and stressful work environment surrounded by a high risk of exposure to potentially dangerous situations. In addition to the characteristically dark, wet, and cramped environment, underground mines contain noxious gases and fumes, and the danger of potentially explosive dust or gases, electrical fires, roof falls, and exposure to radiation.

• Implements pollution control programs, within industrial facilities and range locations on Fort Drum, New York.
• Performs site inspections, collects and analyzes data, evaluates results, and recommends corrective action and other procedures to ensure compliance with state, federal, and local pollution control regulations.
• Correlates environmental data, verifies results, and discusses technical aspects of work with scientists, engineers and other environmental experts.
• Assists in executing a variety of compliance programs including air, water, drinking water, environmental training, and hazardous materials generation storage, tracking and disposal.
• Responds to and provides basic guidance on cleanup of petroleum, chemical and wastewater spills.

• Analyze review recommendations and incorporates recommendations into long term and annual project plans for completion.
• Provide technical expertise in the operation and maintenance and advise on the operational capabilities of existing equipment.
• Provide continuous evaluation of maintenance management practices and procedures and make recommendations to management for improvements.
• Meet with a variety of professionals to obtain knowledge and/or proficiency for professional administration of hydroelectric facilities.

• Utilize diagnostic tools to obtain vital signs during patient intake process.
• Assist physician with minor procedures, surgeries, and/or treatments according to patient care plan.
• Perform administrative duties such as appointment management and patient check-in when necessary.
• Provide patients with after-care procedures and recommendations from physician.
• Enter patient data health into electronic health records system.

- Operates several complex work stations or a portion of a large fuel storage and dispensing system to transfer fuel to aircraft and refuelers.
- Receives incoming petroleum fuel and cryogenic product shipments by truck, tank car, or pipeline.
- Issues petroleum products to containers and refueling units through fillstands. Operates motor vehicle system.
- Inventories and inspects the storage/distribution system and the condition of the products received and issued.
- Performs operator maintenance of the fuel storage and dispensing equipment. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provides advanced or detailed patient assessment, conducting systematic physical examination to determine treatment methods used which may include invasive procedures, electro cardiology procedures, advanced and invasive airway procedures and administers medications and solutions orally or intravenously.

• Grant or deny applications and petitions for immigration benefits and determine appropriate level of adjudicative review and update databases with appropriate information and decisions.
• Research and interpret sources including immigration laws and regulations, operating instructions, legislative history, precedent decisions, state and local laws, and international treaties to determine adjudicative decision.
• Gather information using a variety of methods including document review, electronic systems checks, interviews, etc. to make adjudicative decisions on immigration benefit applications/petitions.
• Process electronic or paper applications and petitions for immigration benefits using available electronic systems to verify numerous established data points.

• Recommends changes in technical guides and collects data necessary for their development for the use of field offices in administering programs.
• Provides technical leadership and information to engineers, conservation districts and regional planning groups to ensure the development of highly specialized land resource plans, and to incorporate needed soil and water conservation measures.

• Makes observations and thoroughly documents care and the patient's response. Appropriately seeks assistance and guidance by informing the Primary Care Clinic RN Care Manager, Primary Care Clinics Nurse Manager, or medical provider of changes in the patient's condition requiring higher-level intervention.
• The LPN performs, reports, and records assigned nursing care in the Primary Care Clinics, including, but not limited to:
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Medication administration
  • Clinical reminders as indicated
  • Check expiration dates of meds and supplies
  • Delegated procedures and treatments
  • Documentation
  • Performs EKGs as indicated
