An exciting temporary opportunity for a Financial Accounting Specialist to join this Watford-based company for up to 3 months!Key Responsibilities:

• Payment Processing: Handle Bacs, Wire transfers, SEPA, and cheque payments in various currencies to three entities.
• Cash Book Maintenance: Daily reconciliation of Sterling, Euro, and Dollar cash books using Excel.
• Manual Payments: Process and allocate manual payments, cheque cancellations, and more on the AP system.
• Period End Journals: Assist in the preparation of period end journals.
• Vendor Maintenance: Support product liability insurance and prepare expense vendor setup documentation.
• Compliance Checks: Upload and verify vendors for denied parties' compliance.
• Invoice Coding: Assist in coding vendor invoices according to the General Ledger account structures.
• Invoice Routing: Ensure vendor invoices are routed to the appropriate budget holders and approved timely for payment.
• Ad-Hoc Queries: Address various ad-hoc queries as they arise.

Required Skills and Abilities:

• Motivation and Initiative: Highly motivated, fast learner with a proactive approach.
• Experience: Preferably experienced with AS400 and a background in accounting or business.
• Technical Skills: Strong numeracy skills, mental arithmetic, and proficiency in Word and Excel at an intermediate level.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable liaising with all levels inside and outside of finance.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous, deadline-focused, and well-organised with a flexible attitude towards work tasks and ad-hoc requirements.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team.

• Preparing vendor invoices for freight, expenses, utilities and capital expenditure accurately and promptly to enable these to be entered onto our finance system by the Data Processing team.
• Coding vendor invoices in accordance with the General Ledger account structures
• Routing vendor invoices to the appropriate budget holders and ensuring these have been approved on a timely basis ready for payments
• Resolving vendor invoice queries - liaising with external suppliers and budget holders
• Performing supplier statement reconciliations in accordance with the
• Supplier Statement Reconciliation programme.
• Processing Warehouse petty cash and cheque disbursements.
• Processing Employee Expense Claim forms, ensuring these comply with the Travel and Expenditure policy and the appropriate VAT is being claimed.
• Periodic reporting and preparing period-end balance sheet reconciliations.
• Other ad-hoc queries as and when these arise
