A Vacancy at Rotherham Doncaster and South Humber NHS Foundation Trust.
Full-time (10 PA) Consultant Psychiatrist working within the Older People’s Mental Health Services inpatient team with on call.
The successful applicant will be one of two consultants providing day to day medical support to the Rotherham Older AMH wards. The two Older Adult wards have a functional/organic split. The successful applicant will be providing input to the functional ward the Brambles. The successful applicant will also provide support to the organic ward on the organic ward Consultant’s non-working days. This inpatient post will be based at the Woodlands which is on the same site as the Rotherham General Hospital in Rotherham with easy access to the M1 motorway & 20 minutes commute from Sheffield.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Rotherham Care Group as we seek to develop enhanced multi-disciplinary ways of working within our Older Adult wards with the introduction of the multi-professional AC (MPAC) role to our Care Group. Currently we have a Psychology Consultant who is a trainee MPAC. On successful submission of their portfolio we would be looking to embed the MPAC into the ward and this would be exciting time to shape a new way of working. There are established MPACs in other Care Group and support from the Care Group leadership with this project.
It would be anticipated that over time the MPAC role would create additional time for the successful applicant to engage in other activities such as service innovation, improvement and research etc.
The post-holder will provide consultant input into Brambles Ward. Brambles Ward is a 15-bedded, mixed-sex ward for people over-65 who are experiencing organic mental disorder. As part of our commitment to needs led services, sometimes patients under-65 with functional mental illness are cared for on Brambles Ward but only in circumstances where they are more suitable to be nursed in that environment. The post-holder would be the Responsible Clinician for inpatients on Brambles Ward who are detained under the Mental Health Act.
The post-holder will provide cover into Glade Ward for the Glade Ward Consultant’s non-working days. This work will be ad hoc and it is not expected that the successful candidate would carry a caseload of patients on this ward.
