The Purpose:

The internal audit function contributes to AP+ achieving its strategic goals through high quality audit, assurance and advisory services. Joining our Internal audit team, you will play a meaningful role in improving our organisation’s operations.

Reporting to the General Manager Internal Audit, this is an exciting opportunity to join a team undergoing change.

Primary Accountabilities, Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Perform internal audits and delivery assurance and advisory services in accordance with out Internal Audit methodology and professional internal auditing standards.
• Contributing to audit strategy and planning activity, ensuring the plan is relevant to the needs of the business.
• Oversee/manage co-sourced service providers.
• Identify and assess areas of significant business risk, including emerging risks. Provide recommendations for mitigating risks and enhancing internal controls.
• Ensure that the company’s operations are compliant with relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies, especially within the payments industry.
• Prepare detailed audit reports outlining audit findings, risk areas, and recommended corrective actions.
• Presentation of audit findings to various stakeholder
• Stay updated on the latest industry trends, regulatory changes, and audit methodologies. Implement best practices to enhance the internal audit function’s effectiveness.

Key Competencies and Skills: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA, or CISA are highly desirable.
• Experience gained working alongside or overseeing co-sourced service providers.
• Must have strong audit report writing skills.
• Sound verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present at various levels.
• Forward thinking and deadline driven.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in internal auditing preferably within the financial services or payments industry.
• Familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus.
• High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Who we’re looking for:

The Internal Audit Manager reports to the Head of Non-Financial Risk and is a key component of the Group’s risk management strategy. This is a hands-on role, which requires a high level of versatility. Collaborating internally and externally where required, the Internal Audit Manager will aim to deliver a well-balanced assurance program, using audit evidence and Risk forums to help implement process change, enabling achievement of the company’s strategic plan.

What you’ll be doing:

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading the end to end Internal Audit function to achieve balanced, commercial and value-adding assurance outcomes, to continuously improve adherence to the FleetPartners Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Management Strategy
• Contributing to audit strategy and planning activity, ensuring the plan is relevant to the needs of the business
• Developing effective stakeholder relationships at all levels in all areas of the business, including relevant third parties
• Delivering the day-to-day completion of audit activity in line with the Internal Audit Framework, including robust investigation, review and validation of wing-to-wing processes and control points, performing in-depth Test of Control (ToC) and Test of Effectiveness (ToE) exercises as evidence and clearly articulating audit findings and recommendations in a factual and insightful audit reports
• Provide independent and objective assurance over key business processes in accordance with the audit plan and key control testing plan or as directed by the Executive or the Board
• Support the Group in proactively and regularly reviewing business processes for continuous improvement, including documenting and reviewing processes and controls to ensure key risks are mitigated
• Monitor recommended and agreed remediation actions and follow-up as necessary to ensure risks are effectively addressed
• Preparation and Communication of audit status updates to key stakeholders, including status of open audit actions

• Be familiar with all enterprise system capabilities relevant to the Internal Audit function

• Practicable experience in Internal Audit, ideally within the fleet leasing industry, however strong candidates from risk advisory or broader financial services or banking sectors will also be considered
• Tertiary qualification or equivalent in audit and / or risk management disciplines, with demonstration of a strong understanding of corporate governance, risk management and assurance
• Experience with identifying, documenting and assessing risk and controls within the first, second or third line
• Strong understanding of Regulatory Compliance and Operational Risks impacting the fleet leasing industry
• Excellent attention to detail, presentation and communication skills
• Ability to think on your feet, self-motivated, forward thinking who thrives when collaborating with others to continuously improve the way we work
• Highly organised and energetic with excellent time management capabilities

 We are currently seeking a talented individual to join our North Sydney based Finance team as an Internal Audit Manager. This part-time (4 days) role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of our organisation whilst enjoying a hybrid work arrangement. 

The role

Reporting to our Group Chief Financial Officer, as the Internal Audit Manager, you will play a pivotal role in providing assurance and guidance to our Management, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and Board focusing on risk management, business processes, and controls. With responsibility for reviewing and providing recommendations to improve the GWA control environment (including processes and systems to improve their efficiencies and effectiveness), this position is designed to support GWA across all geographies and business brands.

Key Responsibilities 

Design and Implementation of Audit Plans

You will develop risk-based annual and three-year audit plans, ensuring a balance between financial, compliance, performance, and operational reviews which will incorporate input from key stakeholders, including our ELT, outsourced IA provider, and the GWA Audit & Risk Committee.

Audit Management

You will be responsible for establishing audit objectives and scopes of work, communicating them to the Internal Audit team and relevant stakeholders, and obtaining approval from the relevant senior GWA stakeholders in order to progress. You will manage internal audit resources, including both internal and outsourced teams, ensuring tasks are appropriately assigned, monitored and completed.

Technology Integration

Utilising data mining and data analytics where applicable to detect fraudulent or unusual transactions in financial statements, you will develop a deep understanding of GWA’s technology systems to identify improvements and audit action points.

Continuous Improvement

We will expect you to keep updated regarding changes in internal audit standards and best practices. In addition, you will conduct interviews with management and staff to identify best practices and align them with business standards, GWA policies, and regulatory requirements.

Reporting and Communication

You will prepare comprehensive reports highlighting control weaknesses, risks, implications, and recommendations for process improvements. You will also discuss your findings with line management and ELT members, gaining commitment to agreed-upon actions.

Budget Management

You will be responsible for overseeing the overall Internal Audit budget, including the component related to our external providers. You will ensure accurate reporting, correct accruals, and preparation of budgets/forecasts as required.

Stakeholder Collaboration

You will liaise closely with our outsourced IA provider, GWA Group Financial Controller, and GWA Group CFO to ensure the timely delivery of the audit plan. You will hold all parties accountable for meeting agreed-upon deliverables in terms of quality, timing, and cost.

Leadership and Team Development

You will lead, coach, and motivate both internal and outsourced audit teams, ensuring high performance, delivery, and engagement whilst fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

 Skills and experience

Our ideal candidate will have aminimum 8 years in an internal/external audit role with experience in planning, coordinating, and executing a global audit function, plus: 

• Proven experience in internal audit management, with a focus on risk management, controls, and IT systems.
• People/team management experience
• You will be highly commercially minded with the ability to apply your knowledge and experience in a practical manner with a focus on positive business outcomes.
• You will have strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence and gravitas to undertake and lead negotiations to achieve the best risk mitigation result for GWA.
• A flexible, solutions focused mindset with the ability to understand and adapt to the shifting and competing priorities of the business, whilst keeping on task and on schedule.
• Experience using data mining and analytics would be beneficial.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA/CA/Internal Audit qualifications and a Business-related degree
• Ability to influence and communicate with all levels and seniorities of stakeholder.
• Understanding of continuous improvement principles.
• Experience using MS Dynamics 365 would be beneficial.

 Candidates who have previous experience working in a Co-Source environment will be highly regarded.
