The Senior Audit Manager is a senior level position responsible for developing and executing a robust Audit Plan, in coordination within the Audit Financial Crime and/or other Internal Audit (IA) teams.

This role directs the timely delivery of complex high quality, value-added assurance and audit reports for both first and second Lines of Defense to meet the requirements of the Boards of Citigroup and Citibank, their affiliates and of Citi’s respective regulators, globally. This role will contribute to the scoping and execution of global Sanctions, Anti-Bribery & Corruption (AB&C) programs coverage in accordance with established IA methodology and professional auditing standards, legal entity governance reporting, and other audit issue validation.

The candidate should also have functional knowledge of local regulatory requirements for Sanctions and Bribery & Corruption controls that have been established to comply with the United States and other in-country regulatory requirements, Citi policies and procedures, provisions and guidelines established by the United States Treasury Department and other regulatory agencies as related to sanctions and bribery & corruption. The candidate must have a working knowledge of regulatory requirements (international and/or regional) and the related risks and controls and demonstrate the ability to work with senior management and lead audit team execution.

In this role, you’re expected to:

• Execute audit from end to end, draft audit reports, validate IA and regulatory issues and conduct business monitoring activities and deliver governance committee reports;
• Participate in major business initiatives and pro-actively advise and assist the business on change initiatives;
• Implement integrated auditing concepts and technology, and follow trends in the Audit field and adapt them for the Audit function;
• Applies an in-depth understanding of the inter-relationships of business and support units throughout the corporation and how they impact the overall control environment and the audit approach;
• Uses excellent communication skills in order to influence a wide range of internal audiences including respective product, function, or regional executive management partners. May negotiate internally often at higher levels on matters which will have a major impact on the area managed;
• Identify solutions for a variety of complex and unique control issues, utilizing complex judgement and sophisticated analytical thought;
• Analyze report findings, and recommend interventions where needed, proposing creative and pragmatic solutions to risk and control issues;
• Partner with Directors and Managing Directors to develop approaches for addressing broader corporate emerging issues;
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

As a successful candidate, you’d ideally have the following skills and exposure:

• 10+ years of relevant experience in Financial Services, especially in the areas associated with Risk and Control, Internal Audit, Financial Crime such as Sanctions, Compliance and Regulatory Risk;

IA is a change agent within Citi to enhance the control culture of Citigroup worldwide and thereby support senior management decision making around the globe.

IA maintains a Quality Assurance (QA) function that reports to the Chief Auditor Quality Assurance and the Group Audit Committee. The QA function provides independent assurance that IA has achieved and is maintaining appropriate standards of internal audit delivery (set against both IA’s own internal standards and the Standards and Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors).

The role involves close liaison with the global audit teams to ensure appropriate understanding, access to and the correct application of the IA methodology. Key Responsibilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent education;
• Three (3) years of progressive experience in accounting, financial management, or a related field.

Preferred Education and/or Experience: 

• Master of Business Administration and/or Certified Public Accountant; Higher Education Accounting/Finance experience;
• Workday Finance Experience, Ellucian Banner experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Oversee general accounting functions;
• Establish internal control policies and procedures to ensure that accounting standards are met;
• Prepare reports and surveys, as required by regulatory agencies;
• Prepare annual financial statements and documents in support of internal and legislative audit activities;
• Oversee reporting, file transfers, and reimbursement requests in the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration’s AASIS system;
• Ensure all accounting transactions are accurate, timely, and comply with Federal, State, Arkansas Department of Higher Education, Board of Trustees and University regulations and policies, and generally accepted accounting practices;
• Lead and manage the annual accounting cycle, including month-end close, quarter-end close, and fiscal year-end close;
• Oversee and maintain accounting accruals, assets, fund accounting, inventory, capital expenses, state appropriations, reconciliation of cash and bank accounts, closing journal entries and chart of accounts to ensure financial statements are complete and timely;
• Manage the work of other employees, make hiring decisions, provide coaching, training, and mentoring, manage performance, determine staffing needs, develop and ensure succession planning within area of responsibility;
• Oversee and maintain university personnel access to University ERP Finance systems;
• Work collaboratively with departmental budget and finance managers as needed in assisting with monitoring financial transactions, including education;
• Work collaboratively with the Bursar’s Office, Procurement Services, and the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs to ensure financial transactions comply with generally accepted accounting practices;
• Record/analyze various financial transactions;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to analyze and reconcile complex financial information in a computerized accounting environment;
• Ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication;
• Knowledge of principles and practices of accounting, particularly as they relate to sound financial management in higher education;
• Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment and be innovative and creative in the development of accounting procedures;
• Ability to participate in and lead a workgroup;
• Ability to organize, prioritize, track, and complete assigned tasks;
• Ability to stay current on changes in accounting for higher education;
• Skilled in using Microsoft Office, including Access, in a large and complex accounting system;
• Skilled in interacting with a variety of people.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare group consolidation and perform financial analytical review
• Coordinate with subsidiaries’ finance leads to ensure timely and accurate
  financial reporting pack
• Prepare monthly Group management reporting pack & presentation deck
• Ensure monthly intercompany balances are reconciled by subsidiaries finance leads
