We are looking for a motivated Accounting Intern with a solid understanding of accounting principles and terms who is ready for a real-world work experience!

This internship will provide a varied, busy, and valued role for you and the Finance & Procurement Office.

About the role

Working as part of the Financial Accounts team, you will gain experience of bookkeeping, general accounting activities, indirect tax and working with an accounting software. You will also support the wider work of the University’s Finance & Procurement Office gaining a breadth of work experience through a series of short placements with other Financial Operations teams, including:

* Credit Control
* Income Office
* Payroll Office
* Student Finance
* Payments/Procurement

About you

This role would suit a finance or accountancy graduate or someone who has completed at least Level 3 of the AAT professional qualification who is seeking an opportunity to gain practical accountancy work experience to build their CV. The role is designed to be an active and integral part of the team, with specific responsibilities for delivery.

Job Title: Trainee Accounting Technician
Location: We are recruiting in these three locations (Weston Super Mare, Honiton and Barnstaple)
Salary: Starting salary £20,000 per annum, this is due to working within the role but also studying you will be in work 80% of the time and studying/in-person training 20% of the time and have time off for exams. So £20,000 for 4 days work a week, and your qualification is paid for.

You will undertake both practical and theoretical training whilst studying for your AAT qualification under an apprenticeship agreement. The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) is a professional qualification which can help you to achieve a rewarding career in accountancy. Studying for Level 3 and Level 4 AAT apprenticeship qualifications includes learning the fundamentals of bookkeeping and accounting standards, as well as personal and business tax. We will not only offer you support and mentoring throughout your training, but we will also fund the training, and pay you your normal salary on the days you attend classes or time in the office to study. As Senior Lead - Accounts Production, you will lead on the production of the Consolidated NHS Provider Accounts. This will include overseeing the design and production of templates to collect and process accounts information from over 200 NHS providers and leading a team supporting finance staff across NHS providers to deliver high quality financial reporting.
