Job Summary:
The Senior Executive, Internal Audit is responsible for assisting in the execution of MRANTI’s strategic, risk-based internal audit plan, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and objectives. This role involves supporting the internal audit function in compliance with the internal audit charter, established frameworks, and the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) set by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
Job Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the Development of Risk-Based Audit Plans
- Assist in the development and execution of the annual internal audit plan, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives through comprehensive risk assessments.
- Provide insights into emerging risks and help ensure the audit plan remains responsive to changes in the business environment.
2. Lead and Support Audit Engagements
- Play a key role in the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audit assignments, ensuring adherence to the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and internal policies.
- Lead smaller audit assignments independently, ensuring timely completion, and provide substantial support to larger audits conducted by the team.
3. Root Cause Analysis and Actionable Recommendations
- Assist in conducting root cause analyses of audit findings and contribute to the development of practical, actionable recommendations to strengthen internal controls and enhance processes.
4. Facilitate Collaboration Across Functions
- Coordinate and participate in meetings with various departments and divisions to ensure that audit findings are understood, corrective actions are agreed upon, and collaboration is fostered to ensure accountability.
5. Prepare and Present Audit Reports to Stakeholders
- Prepare clear and concise internal audit reports, ensuring key findings, conclusions, and recommendations are communicated effectively to Senior Leadership Team (SLT), Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and the Board Audit & Risk Committee (BARC).
- Assist in presenting audit results to senior management, addressing their queries and ensuring alignment on necessary actions.
6. Monitor and Update Risk Assessments
- Continuously monitor the business environment to support the timely updating of the internal audit plan, reflecting any significant changes in risks, operations, or control frameworks.
7. Follow-Up on Audit Findings and Corrective Actions
- Monitor the timely implementation of agreed-upon corrective actions stemming from audit engagements and escalate any unresolved issues to senior management and the BARC, where appropriate.
8. Support Team Development and Provide Guidance
- Provide mentoring and support to junior staff, helping them build competencies and develop skills essential to internal audit practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the internal audit team by sharing knowledge and best practices.
9. Uphold Professional Standards and Ethics
- Ensure that all internal audit activities are conducted with a high degree of professionalism, maintaining integrity, objectivity, confidentiality, and competence as per the standards of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
10. Engage with Senior Management and Stakeholders
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior management and key stakeholders to ensure the internal audit function remains aligned with organizational needs.
- Act as a liaison during audits to understand stakeholder concerns
Job Requirement:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field is required
- Professional qualifications such as CIA, CRMA, CISA, ACCA or equivalent qualification. Experience in data analytics and investigation would be an advantage for candidates.
- Possess at least 2 to 3 years of internal or external audit experience.
- Knowledge on internal auditing, internal controls, risk management, finance and accounting practices and methods.
- Good communication skills in both spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to draw meaningful insights from data.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated while being a great team player.
