Role Summary:
The Head of the U.S. Personal Banking (USPB) Unsecured High Risk Segment Group is a new position that is part of Citigroup’s consumer bank risk executive team and reports directly to the In-Business USPB Credit and Franchise Risk Head. Key responsibilities cover managing the high-risk customer segment in the Cards and Unsecured portfolios, covering onset of risk through balance control, collections, loss mitigation and recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Segment Definition: define and identify high-risk customer segments based on various risk factors such as on and off-us credit build and payment behaviors, default probability, and pattern change
- Strategy Formulation: Develop and implement comprehensive champion and challenger strategies covering balance control (credit line decreases, line closure), early/mid/late stage collections, loss mitigation, and recovery. Assess customer engagement patterns to take into account contact and digital strategies.
- Journey Mapping: Create customer journey maps tailored to this segment, driving seamless and effective processes end-to-end
- Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics and collaborate with modeling groups to assess risk levels and develop tools and strategies to optimize returns.
- Policy Development and Implementation Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional operations and Cards segment managers to establish and implement standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and meeting industry best practice. Manage external agencies, including asset sales.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators and metrics to monitor effectiveness of strategies; implement MIS to identify new trends and signals.
- Identify and manage credit abuse: Identify patterns indicative of credit abuse, implement early warning interventions, and review and update credit abuse detection mechanisms
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders including risk management teams, business units to communicate findings, inform loss and recovery expectations, and provide input into originations and line strategies.
- Team Leadership: provide leadership and guidance to a team of professionals responsible for executing strategies, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
The position requires significant collaboration across all consumer lines of business, collections operations, recovery operations, compliance, legal, independent risk, and other groups. The individual serves as a member of the Risk Management Leadership Team and leads a large team of employees both onshore and offshore
Qualifications:
- 15+ years’ experience in credit risk management, with expertise in collections and recovery functions, through the economic cycle; experience with Fintech desirable
- Bachelor’s degree, Masters preferred
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership, demonstrates strong partnership and trust with stakeholders across organizational boundaries; willing to break down functional silos to optimize business results and to facilitate the overall growth of the franchise
- Experience with and previous exposure to internal or external control functions and regulators
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to challenge & influence at all levels of management, flexibility to work well with varying personal styles, and ability to create a diverse & inclusive culture
