OverviewWorks under the supervision of the Charge Nurse/Nurse Manager/Director. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to observe and provide routine analysis of cardiac rhythms displayed on a telemetry monitor. Demonstrates knowledge of life threatening arrhythmias and changes in rhythm, informs the assigned nurse, and initiates appropriate action. Updates the charge nurse/primary nurse of all life threatening and new arrhythmias. Demonstrates competency in the application of all functions of the telemetry monitoring system. Requires utilization of simple to complex equipment. Requires the cleaning and replenishment of equipment and supplies in order to maintain quality patient care. Participates in quality patient assurance, in-service and customer service programs. Performs clerical, secretarial, and other duties as assigned. This position is responsible for customer service and retrieval of reports. Also added responsibilities of ordering supplies, follow up to patients and physician offices, and other secretarial/clerical duties as directed.
What you will do- Actively participates in unit, department, and facility staff meetings and in-services to improve patient care, unit BPA scores, and service standards.
- Demonstrates ability to navigate systems to access patient information to facilitate transfers. Utilizes systems proficiently to communicate and order supplies, forms etc.
- Demonstrates understanding of diverse patient care populations served within the community.
- Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes. Maintains clean, safe and orderly work/patient environment by cleaning work stations/areas, equipment; stocking supplies; placing equipment in proper storage areas.
- Promotes team work by working effectively as a team member as well as independently. Seeks assistance as needed. Consistently keeps team informed of changes as they arise. Participates positively in the training of new team members. Uses downtime effectively to support other team members in their workload.
- Monitors/supports personal and department productivity through volunteering for and recommending creative changes to include flexing and shift changes to meet the needs of the department.
- Answers phone and call bell in a timely manner using appropriate etiquette skills. Screens calls appropriately to support a positive customer service experience. Functions as an advocate for positive customer service as the greeter of the unit.
- Identifies opportunities and follows through to continuously improve service and patient care outcomes in accordance with patient safety standards, standards of excellence and RHS Code of Ethics. Participates in departmental in-services. Capable of recognizing emergency situations and responds competently.
QualificationsEducation- , High school or equivalent (Required)
- Associates Degree, (Preferred)
- , Education/Secretarial Science (Preferred)
Experience- Secretarial experience (Preferred)
- Monitor Technician experience (Preferred)
Licenses and Certifications- CPR/BLS Certification - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) (Preferred)
