About me:

I am a 78 year old lady with a diagnosis of Alzheimers and reduced mobility living with my family in Cambridge CB3.I require support with personal care and assistance with accessing social and physical activities.
Hours and Rate of Pay:
22 hours per week @ £14 per hour, rising to £15 per hour following a successful probation period. Days/hours can be discussed and agreed with family. The post will include 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (pro-rata)


What You Would be Doing:
Alzheimers is a progressive illness, therefore the tasks will vary over time. Initially, domestic work is needed (cleaning/ironing/change of bedclothes/cooking), and supervision while the family are out, walks, help with washing, dressing etc. Later, depending on how the illness progresses, more care will be necessary. Establish a close working relationship on a one-to-one basis. Discuss and resolve problems as they arise. Undertake any duties which may be reasonably allocated and fall within the scope and responsibility of the job. Needs may vary on a daily basis, therefore hours, duties and tasks may alter form the care plan. To undertake any training as appropriate for the role.

We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen within the Cardiology service for a full-time Medical Secretary.

You must have secretarial experience with knowledge of medical terminology.

Every day is different and TA’s can be supporting our students in a wide range of subjects that help to promote their confidence, independence, employability and self-reliance. You could be working with students in our college garden, with small animals or doing art, drama, music or wood work skills as well as supporting in cooking lessons and Maths and English. We are ideally seeking candidates who have experience of working in a special education setting or may wish to make the move from primary education or social care. A knowledge of supporting students working at Entry level and gathering evidence via RARPA would be an advantage. As part of the role, you will: Support students with a range of learning difficulties and other disabilities.
Enable reasonable adjustments to help students to engage.
Mentor students and encourage them to remain on task.
Model skills so that the student can understand the tasks.
Assist with Personal Care and health needs.
Promote our college values. What we are looking for in our ideal candidate: - GCSE English grade C / 4 or equivalent - or willing to work towards gaining this qualification
- Happy to undergo relevant training
- Enjoy working across college faculties i.e. supporting students on a variety of courses
- Have recent and demonstrable experience of working with people with special education needs (desirable, but not essential)
- A positive ‘can do’ attitude, sensitive to others needs, patient and reliable
- A team player yet also able to work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. These TA opportunities would either suit someone looking for a new, more flexible role within learning support where they are only working term-time and/or someone keen to transfer existing skills, such as from the care sector, and build a career in supported learning.
