What will I do in this position if hired?

In this Administrative Services Specialist position, serve as a liaison between FEMA Region 5 Management and the Office of the Chief Component Human Capital Officer (OCCHCO) Human Resources Specialist, coordinating all aspects of the Regions personnel actions.

Typical assignments include:

• Providing advice and assistance to managers and supervisors on complex personnel management matters involving staffing, recruitment and placement actions.
• Initiating, monitoring, and tracking requests for personnel actions, and reviewing for conformity to appropriate laws and regulations.
• Serving as the Regions source of expertise on various human resources management automation programs.
• Providing briefings, data analysis, and recommendations on a wide variety of personnel action issues and problems.

This announcement is for a position as a CORE (Cadre of On-Call Response/Recovery Employee). CORE employees are full-time employees hired to directly support the response and recovery efforts related to disasters. Employees are hired under the Robert T. Stafford Act and are excluded from the provisions of title 5, United States Code, governing jobs in the competitive service. They can be hired under a streamlined process instead of a competitive process. After three years of continuous service, Stafford Act employees may be granted competitive eligibility to apply for permanent full-time positions at FEMA.

This position will be hired into a temporary 4-year, excepted service appointment. Appointments may be renewed based on workload, funding, and supervisory approval.

This position has promotion potential to the grade IC-0301-11. • Perform administrative and medical document scanning in CPRS, utilizing CPRS, Imaging Capture, and Imaging Display to view documents.

Summary: This position is in charge of compiling various reports that measure actual production, variances, forecasts, inventories, metrics (this list is not all-inclusive) for upper management and corporate.   This position is a day position that works Monday through Saturday, with occasional Sundays and holidays as needed.  Applicant MUST have a flexible schedule to work early mornings into late evenings when needed.  Excellent data entry, math and problem solving skills are a must, along with the ability to adapt quickly and work in a fast paced environment.  Hired applicant will be required to cross-train in other parts of the office and cover other desks as needed.
