Position Overview

The Accounting Clerk will make a full contribution to the Corporate Accounting Department by accurately, timely and efficiently performing all functions of accounts receivable and other assigned tasks; to effectively and concisely communicate with others both orally and/or in writiing; to be cognizant of and abide by company policies and procedures; assure strict confidentiality of financial information, and to fully support the company’s vision statement.

Note: Work configurations are subject to change based on business needs and at company discretion.

• This position is a hybrid role that requires the employee to sometimes work at one of our company sites. Specific hybrid schedules will be determined based on business needs and evaluated by managers and senior management. Employee will need to be on-site during the training period.

What You Will Do:

Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Apply cash receipts of accounts receivable payments and miscellaneous cash to ensure items are properly posted to the aging and accounted for in the general ledger.
• Ability to research missing documentation for cash posting, and willingness to contact customers for any additional information needed to post payments or to help resolve any account problems.
• Create daily cash reconciliation to be posted to the general ledger.
• Process weekly/monthly/calendar billing out of the Wide Orbit system.
• Ability to research and reconcile historical payments as requested by customers or account reps.
• Work closely with Credit & Collections, Assistant Corporate Controller, and CFO to identify delinquent accounts and help facilitate proper course of action.
• Cross-train and help in other areas as needed.
• Work in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
• Consistently work hours required to meet deadlines including weekends, holidays, evenings, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience We Are Looking For:

• Minimum (5) years on-the-job accounts receivable experience with proven ability to accurately perform detailed accounting work and follow through with assignments to successful completion.
• Ability to reconcile general ledger accounts, perform various financial analyses, create, and post journal entries, and read and interpret financial statements.
• Computer literate with working knowledge of Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and work with minimum supervision.
• Strong self-motivation, well organized, and dependable.
• Demonstrate a high attention to detail and initiative.
• Project pleasant, friendly, professional, business-like demeanor in person, over the telephone and through e-mail.
• Proven ability to work autonomously as well as establish effective communications and working relationships with co-workers and others while performing job responsibilities.
• Ability to exercise good judgment and make a positive impact on department’s productivity.
• Prior experience with Wide Orbit Purchasing and Wide Orbit Traffic is helpful but not necessary.

Physical Demands

Compensation

 $20.24 to $30.38 per hour. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels and geographic locations.

• Primarily focused on cross-selling to existing customer base and engaging in outside sales activities (i.e. Membership Advantage onsite presentations, business sales calls, community financial literacy events, etc.) as directed.
• Establish close working relationships with assigned Business Partners (Mortgage, Small Business, Commercial and Investment), referring customers when appropriate to provide timely, and holistic financial solutions.
• Consistently meet/exceed customer experience and individual/team production goals and enhance year-over-year revenue growth as measured by the Financial Center P&L.
• Provide guidance to CSRs with respect to the sales and referral process.
• Promote customer satisfaction with a friendly, helpful demeanor and professionalism.
• Act with confidence by answering customer questions and owning customer issues.
• Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all business confidential.
• Follow the Bancorp Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other related policies, maintaining ethical behavior at all times.
• Adhere to established policies and procedures while opening/servicing the full range of Retail products.
• Participate in the consumer loan and bankcard process, owning sourced loans from application through closing.
• Participate in the opening/closing process of the Financial Center or Bank Mart as directed by the Financial Center Manager.
• Keep up to date on Retail procedures in place to mitigate fraudulent activity and unnecessary risk or exposure.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• College degree or work experience providing transferrable skills, or, combination of education and experience.
• Experience in the financial industry preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to develop comfort level with sales activities designed to acquire new consumer household and small business customers and/or cross-sell to established customers.
• Must be able to demonstrate understanding of advanced math functions that will allow for analysis of credit and financial information.
• Ability to professionally represent Fifth Third Bank in terms of appearance and verbal/written communication.
• Demonstrated ability to develop a working knowledge of Retail policies and procedures in order to utilize good judgment in making sound decisions.
• This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS). The NMLS web site (mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org) provides the MU4R questions and registration required for employment in this position.

• Extending viewing of computer screens.
• This program will require the ability to travel within the affiliate for training as well as scheduling flexibility.
• Travel outside of the affiliate will be required for various classroom training sessions.

Key Accountabilities:

1. Provide general Clerical/Secretarial and Administrative Support to the Legal Team for Corporate Housekeeping.

2. Provide support in the Corporate Secretary functions of superiors. Manage record keeping and comply with regulatory requirements.

3. Assist in the logistics and in preparation of materials and documents for board meetings of assigned companies, including direct coordination with directors/officers or their representatives.

4. Prepare documents for audit.

5. Participate in other administrative functions such as assistance for notarial services, maintenance of minutes’ books, etc.  

Qualifications:

• Graduate of any 4-year course

• With at least 2 years experience as a secretary in a corporation

• Good communication and writing skills
