Your new role
As Design Manager, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

Harborne Academy are looking to recruit a teacher of design technology, with a strong background in resistant materials (wood/metal/ plastics). Experience and the ability to teach 3D art is also desirable.

The right candidate will be passionate about helping our students to learn to design and make across a wide range of materials, processes, and scales. The position would suit applicants with a background in resistant materials, sculpture, jewellery, 3D art. Above all else, we are seeking a candidate with the enthusiasm and the drive to help our students gain confidence in the skills needed to progress their own amazing ideas.

The department places a major focus on practical, hands-on workshop learning, with students being exposed to a wide range of techniques and processes (welding, forging, raising, laminating, carving, casting and resin work). Situated in campuses across the city, our specialised teams of teachers and support staff work together to support pupils with complex social, emotional needs and challenging behaviours.
As the Pupil Referral Unit for Birmingham local authority, we provide for those pupils who have been, or are at risk of, permanent exclusion, Children in Care and those experiencing emotionally based school refusal. Additionally, our Behaviour Support Team offers a traded service to local schools.
