Mechanical Design Engineer required for an industry leading supplier of manufacturing machinery with a reputation of global excellence. This is a great opportunity to join a company with a worldwide presence who are truly committed to developing their staff. Within this role, you will be based at a brand-new, purpose-built facility.

This role would suit an experienced mechanical design engineer with experience designing special purpose machinery.

Working within a team of six, the Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will take a lead role in the development of new products, using SolidWorks to create 3D designs of special purpose machinery. You will be involved in the design of tooling and coordinate with engineers of other disciplines (electrical, software etc.) to produce design solutions to meet user requirements.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Role:

· Lead mechanical design of special purpose machinery, including lead plate feeders and stackers, lead casting machines, robot loading and machining cells etc.

· Use SolidWorks to create 3D models and carry out prototyping and verification testing

· Ensure designs complies with specifications, safety regulations and CE compliance

· Selection of mechanical components

· Create 2D designs for manufacture

· Production of Customer Sign Off drawings for new orders

· Generate assembly drawings and BOMs


The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate:

· Experienced Mechanical Design Engineer

· Experience designing special purpose machinery

· Any industry background

· Able to ensure designs functionally meet requirements
