As the Chief Enterprise Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organization by leading the establishment of a robust data architecture to underpin our Data & Analytics Vision and Strategy. You will be responsible for driving a significant improvement in our data capability maturity, enabling us to harness the power of data and analytics to enhance our operational efficiency, customer experience, and strategic decision-making. This role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams, executive leadership, and external partners.
You will own and govern the strategic principles, reference architecture and roadmaps for data and data technology help us achieve our strategic vision. Working as part of the BGUK Technology and Architecture Office, you will collaborate with peers to align our data strategy, architecture, and principles with those of other domains. You’ll work with Chief Data & Analytics Office Leadership Team to establish the key data and technology architecture components of the Data and Architecture Strategy. And you’ll own our UK Enterprise Data Model and establish the critical data entities.
How you’ll help us make health happen:
Lead the design, development, and implementation of an enterprise-wide data architecture strategy that aligns with our business goals and supports our data-driven transformation.
Define and govern data architecture principles, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, scalability, and security of data assets.
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to identify data requirements, create data models, and define data integration and migration strategies.
Establish data governance practices, including data quality, metadata management, and data lineage, to ensure data accuracy, reliability, and compliance.
Provide technical leadership in evaluating and selecting data management and data utilisation technologies, tools, and platforms that support our evolving data ecosystem.
Mentor and guide a team of data architects, data engineers, and data analysts to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Partner with executive leadership to communicate the value of data-driven initiatives, influencing strategic decision-making through actionable insights derived from data analytics.
Manage key stakeholders – both technical and non-technical, educating and mentoring as we advance on our data journey.
Propose and execute technical assessments, proofs of concept and value to promote innovation in the data space and inform data strategy.
Contribute to the overall data strategy and roadmaps by mentoring a team data architects and other data experts to ensure a collaborative approach to solving our data challenges.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
Proven track record of in data architecture, including substantial experience in a leadership role within complex, data-intensive environments.
Deep understanding of data architecture principles, data modelling, data integration, data governance, and data management technologies.
Extensive expertise in leading data transformation initiatives, driving cultural change, and promoting a data-driven mindset across the organization.
Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business objectives into data architecture solutions that drive measurable value.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
Experience within the healthcare or insurance industry is a significant plus.
You can understand technical governance and participate in or deliver the assurance of a service.
Exposure and experience with cloud data technologies
Data innovation. You can identify areas of innovation in data tools and techniques and recognise appropriate timing for adoption.
