Ricardo's Performance Products division are seeking a Senior Design Engineer - to complete the design of transmissions and associated components including creation of solid models and detailed drawings. Supporting the release of the drawings, through manufacture and assembly, to delivery to the customer.

Key accountabilities

• Detailed mechanical design work including stress calculations, FMEA's, 2D detailing, 2D layouts and tolerance stacks.


• FEA analysis of components and systems, shaft and bearing analysis and gear data specification.


• Material selection and process specification.


• Responsible for calculations for gear, shaft and bearing systems.


• Casing/casting design.


• Finite element analysis (Creo Simulate)


• Liaison with customers and suppliers.


• Creation of technical reports and documentation as required for engineering projects.


• Support Manufacturing and Assembly during "First Off" builds.


• Support Operations with design queries and concession requests.


• An office-based role, but there is a potential for extensive travel to support customer visits and meetings around the UK, Europe and, potentially, worldwide and the holder of a driving licence.

Preferred skills and experience and knowledge

• Degree (Bachelor or Masters) in Mechanical Engineering or similar field or with equivalent technical experience.


• Experience working in an Automotive or Motorsport environment and way of working to achieve customer requirements.


• Technical knowledge of automotive transmission systems.


• Proven capability of detail design and component solid modelling with Creo or CAD (Catia or NX) systems in similar environment.


• Ability to understand, produce and check 2D technical drawings to a high standard with high GD&T competency.


• Experience with PLM systems (Windchill preferred).


• Experience of modern manufacturing methods.


• A working knowledge of FEA techniques.


• Advanced knowledge of Excel for solving mathematical problems.


• A flexible approach, being able to work successfully in a small team to aggressive timescales.


• A willingness to travel.

At Woodside we specialise in educating young people with an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding team and work in our wonderful school with our exceptional students and staff.

Your New Role:
We are currently looking to appoint a new Teacher of Art (Non-Qualified) and join our amazing team at our unique outdoor setting to students aged 09-19 in our growing Warwickshire setting based in Leamington Spa on a full time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning Schemes of Work with a creative, yet target based approach. We are looking for practitioners who can build trusting relationships our learners, in order to work with them at all levels of emotional difficulty during sessions, downtime and transitions.

Outdoor learning is central in our provisions. The appointed candidate will need to be an advocate of outdoor learning, incorporating this into as many lessons as possible. You will also be delivering small group sessions at a base specifically crafted for a small group of students. This "homely" feeling enables us to nurture our students and provide them with the best education experience once we've successfully engaged with them emotionally and you will have a responsibility in supporting pupils in processing new information, which will be built upon a solid understanding of the student's manifestation of autism.


Experience:
The appointed candidates will have a minimum of 1 years' experience working with children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions.

Working Hours:
- Monday - Friday (08:30am-15:30pm)
- Term Time Only, 190 contact days
- 5 inset days

The Role
Reporting to the Mechanical Team Leader and working within the multi-disciplinary engineering team.
Required:
• Mechanical engineering degree, either BSc/BEng or MEng.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software.
• 10 years’ experience.
Responsibilities:
• Organise and lead mechanical engineers to fulfil numerous orders and projects.
• Developing designs from concept through to production intent.
• Creating CAD models and fully detailed engineering drawings using GD&T.

Primary Purpose of the Role:

The PDA is responsible for Solution Compliance for a Bid, Project or Product Development phase (as a Project).

Key Interactions:

The Project Design Authority (PDA) is responsible to the Training and Simulation Design Authority & Programme Manager/Director. They support the Solution Architect &, the Solution Engineering Manager, through key interaction with the Customer and End User, to ensure the respective Training and Simulations solution is for the fit-for-purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

• The PDA ensures that the technical solution is feasible, competitive and meets customer expectations or product requirements, in terms of cost, innovation, performance, schedule, etc.

• Acts as the primary technical leader of the bid or project team. Acts as lead technical interface with the Customer.

• Monitor, review, advise and assist with technical issues across the programme.

• Ensures the solution compliance with product polices and requirements, as well as applicable legislation & regulations (i.e. Cybersecurity, export restrictions, Environmental/HSE, safety..)

• Checks that the Engineering Environment (process, practices and tools) for the Solution is consistent with Country/Company requirements, and overall Solution cost, technical risks & schedule.

• Reviews together with the SEM (System Engineering Manager) the technical risks and opportunities and the related mitigation plans throughout the bid or project.

• Prepares the DVa and submits it to the Design Authority (DA) approval.

• Approves the main bid/project engineering reviews and deliverables.

• Organises when appropriate technical meetings and peer reviews together with the Architect (ARC), Subject Matter Experts (SME) and the SEM and other stakeholders (industry, services, specialists.), in order to perform the solution technical assessment and validation.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a PDA or an equivalent customer facing technical role.

• Broad knowledge of systems engineering especially in regards to understanding of Requirements Engineering & Management

• Understanding of the various system lifecycles.

• Experience of formal verification, validation and acceptance activities

• Good technical writing skills, excellent communication and analytical skills; excellent command of the English language, both written and oral

• An effective team player who can interface at all levels across the organisation. Able to operate successfully in a multi-cultural environment, working effectively with teams distributed across different sites/countries.

• Able to accurately estimate and produce project and technical plans / specifications (cost/time)

• Self-starter, must be able to perform job responsibilities with minimal direction

System Architecture - UWS - Under Water Systems

Primary Purpose of the Role:

To develop and implement solution architectures for maritime systems (including sonar and combat management systems). To design systems to meet the project needs, optimising the design through trade-offs to maximise customer and Thales value. Work closely with Hardware and Software teams to align the solution and detail architectures.

• Experience of collaborative working with cross-industry/customer teams, desirable for this to be multi-national.

• Sound knowledge of combat systems deployed in UK maritime fleet, with detailed knowledge of at least one combat system equipment.

• The post holder should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate at all levels in the spoken and written word. A good outward appearance, self-motivation and the ability to work under pressure are vital.

• The success of the Systems Engineering job family relies on the interaction of its engineers at all levels, therefore evidence of team working is required.
