An expanding multidisciplinary building consultancy has recently expanded into Nottinghamshire, adding another office to their existing six other offices across the UK. This company has been in existence for over fifty years, offering a range of services including; Architecture, Building Surveying, Civil Engineering and Building Services. One of the key areas in which they are looking to expand further is their Building Services Team.
Your New Role
Your main purpose ofthe role is the design of electrical engineering for building services. Due tothe nature of the projects, details cannot be disclosed.
In this role, you willbe:

• Managing multiple projects and prioritising workload meet all assigned deadlines
• Meeting with clients
• Surveying and reporting on electrical systems in buildings
• Prepare technical specifications and drawings using industry-standard software
• Undertaking design calculations
• Design electrical installations to meet British Standards
• Developing design proposals at sketch, detailed design and production stages
• Preparing tender documentation and reports
• Demonstrate a passion for electrical design engineering and a willingness to learn
• Support senior members of staff in managing client and design team relationships
• Attend networking events as required

You will need toundertake other duties as may be required to achieve objectives.
What You'll Need to Succeed
You will need to have electrical design experience.
You will need:

• Minimum 5 years' experience within a building services design role
• HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent in Building Services or related subject
• Experience in design software e.g. AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux, Relux
• Experience contributing to design team meetings
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• To be willing to travel
• A driving license and access to a vehicle

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Electrical Design Manager with experience of High Voltage or Power Earthing to head up our Electrical Design team based in Bulwell, Nottingham. The role:

Reporting to Engineering Manager, the Electrical Design Manager with be responsible for the following key areas:

Lead the design and analysis of earthing systems, utilising various software tools to ensure accuracy and effectiveness.

Oversee the in-house design and engineering team, promoting an efficient systems engineering approach.

Ensure the timely completion of design packages, meeting time, cost, safety, and environmental standards in line with client and industry specifications.

Collaborate with external engineering consultants, delegating work packages to complement in-house efforts.

Liaise with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to ensure design compliance with all relevant standards.

Manage the technical aspects of a team of engineers, ensuring all engineering deliverables are provided on time during both the acquisition and execution stages of projects.

Take responsibility for the quality and technical delivery of design solutions, ensuring they align with least whole-life cost principles.

What you'll need:

Proven experience as an Electrical Design Manager, with a strong background in electrical power distribution.

In-depth knowledge of HV and LV design solution development and practical implementation.

Relevant engineering qualifications (BEng / MEng in Electrical, Civil, or Process Engineering are preferred).

Experience with earthing system analysis.

Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Proactive and solution-oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills.

A valid full driving licence is required, with occasional travel as needed.

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive designs, detailed drawings, and intricate schematics using a suite of current software tools. Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all work complies with legal and technical regulations, codes of practice, or guidelines.
• Review and agree on any project changes that may impact overall programme plans, costs, or timescales with the relevant Project Manager and client.
• Manage projects effectively to ensure the coordination of technical elements meets project targets.
• Provide exceptional proficiency in electrical building services design and a deep understanding of technical requirements, legislation, and industry best practices.
• Utilise the most effective procurement methods to achieve the best delivery of projects for the client and raise awareness of the services provided.
• Carry out designs using AutoCAD, Revit, Stabicad, and relevant design tools.
• Provide professional and technical expertise and advice to all internal and external customers, ensuring quality standards are maintained.

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience in designing, specifying, site surveying, and project management of multiple building projects.
• Demonstrable evidence of successful project management of complex multi-disciplinary projects, including budgets and final accounts.
• Experience in preparing feasibility studies, budget estimates, budget control, financial monitoring, contractual management, and negotiating with clients.
• Working knowledge of sustainable, environmentally friendly building services, including BREEAM and SBEM audits.
• Broad knowledge of building services engineering design materials and technologies.
• The ability to make decisions and solve problems to meet operational targets, involving devising solutions and prioritising available resources.
• A basic understanding of sustainability in the workplace and a commitment to supporting the business with its carbon reduction strategy.
