1. Position Summary
The position of Estimator is responsible for coordinating/liaising (as appropriate) with members of the Design & Operations Team from project implementation through to project completion to verify compliance against tendered estimates and to check construction costs against site budgets.
Performance at this level requires some developmental experience in budget tracking, understanding of contract terms, accounting principles, use of financial project management software (CANDY) and Industry used contract standards (e.g. FIDIC) and billing procedures.
2. Key Responsibilities
Commercial & Contracts
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
· Preparation in Microsoft Excel and/or CCS Candy of Estimates, Quotations, Budgets prior to final review and approval by Senior Management. High skill level in software, accuracy, attention to detail, and pride in good presentation is imperative.
· To develop a robust pricing strategy. Continual review of estimating processes & procedures to ensure they are effective, efficient and complied with.
· Review of all Estimates prior to final review and approval by Senior Management. Co-ordination & management of the overall Review/Approval process.
· Preparation of estimating write-ups in support of Proposals.
· Acquire an adequate knowledge of the Company’s range of trade practices including hangar facilities, specialist building systems, docking systems, and MEP works.
· Work closely with the Business Development Management to materialise opportunities.
· Provides complete conceptual and final estimating input
· Assistance to Design and MEP Departments to finalise quantity estimates and procurement requirements.
· Interface with global locations to support estimates as appropriate, their processes, documentation standardisation, and structure.
· Source suitable suppliers appropriate to project location. Establish and build contacts within the subcontractor and supplier market.
· Possible overseas travel to Project-related locations (typically 1 week duration) as deemed necessary to facilitate above activities.
· Provide brief reports on the above activities, as required/requested
· Assist Commercial Manager with EAR (and other required forms) for site requests, modifications, and job closures.

· Internal and external negotiation
· Extracts required information from project staff as needed to develop subcontracts and subcontract work authorizations
· Prepares, maintains, and implements program specific subcontracting plan and procedures
· Develops sourcing strategies for the procurement of goods and services
· Performs and documents commercial analysis and documents technical analysis
· Gathers, calculates and compiles data for use in conceptual/bid proposal estimates
· Prepares bid packages, conceptual estimates and analysis of subcontractor bids, etc. for projects
· Reads and interprets project scopes of work and works with project and task leads to determine project needs
· Performs all aspects of estimating during the construction phase
· Prepares scope and bid package breakdowns for subcontract and vendor quotes
· Contributes to development of Work Breakdown Structures
· Collects, analyzes and archives project data. Develops historical documentation
· Assists with Quality Assurance in project deliverables
· Leads in tracking action items
· Prepares and negotiates change orders
· Implements new estimating tools, techniques, standards and procedures for the purpose of enhancing estimating approaches, encourages diversity
· Negotiates internal issues, priorities, and deadlines
Quality Assurance and Risk Activities
· Participates in activities designed to improve the Quality of Service Delivery in line with the Company Policies
· Assistance in refinement of the Company’s policies
Occupational Health and Safety
· Having an awareness of and participating in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety and Welfare Act
· Comply with workplace procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control including identification, reporting and investigation of all health and safety risks, accidents, injuries, property damage and mishaps in the workplace

5. Person Specification, knowledge and skills
· Proficiency in Estimating. Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or business discipline or equivalent. Proven success in delivering competitive tender submissions. Commitment to a career in estimating.
· Working knowledge & experience of recognised estimating software packages, with the ability to implement new and/or alternative systems. Preference will be given to candidates with CCS Candy estimating experience.
· Estimating knowledge relating to Architectural; Civil; Structural, and MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire) trades
· Accurate, able to work with minimal supervision, good presentation skills, pride in their work.
· A hands-on attitude as you will be required to estimate on a diverse range of construction trades.
· Experienced in multiple contract forms including producing net cost build-ups, fixed cost, cost plus, design and build and cost reimbursable contracts.
· Identifying and quantifying risks in a tender.
· Ability to concurrently work on several activities, with good organizational skills.
· Excellent communication skills (all forms); able to translate complex situations into easily understood context, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external clients.
· Advanced skills in MS Outlook/Word/Excel.
· Ability to use Project Document Collaboration system (currently “Project Centre”).
