Quantity Surveyor
Our prestigious client, based in Dover, is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join their team. You will be responsible for managing pre and post contract duties for construction projects and/or maintenance works. You will play a critical role in ensuring cost efficiency, accurate measurement and valuation of works, and adherence to contractual obligations. Salary £50-£65,000/annum, depending on experience, with a host of benefits to include 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), generous contributory pension scheme, discretionary bonus scheme, private health care, life assurance, employee assistance programme, 3rd party discounts and cycle to work scheme.
Duties to include:
- Manage all aspects of QS activities for construction projects and maintenance works
- Prepare and administer tender documents, including bill of quantities, specifications, and contract conditions
- Carry out accurate measurement and valuation of construction works, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including analysing data, reviewing drawings and specifications, and obtaining supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Evaluate contractor quotations and proposals, ensuring compliance with specifications and contract requirements
- Identify, assess, and negotiate variations, claims, and additional works, keeping accurate records and supporting documentation
- Monitor project budgets, cash flows, and cost forecasts, providing regular reports on expenditure, cost variations, and potential risks
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress, verify measurements, and resolve any quantity surveying issues that may arise
- Prepare and finalise cost reports, interim payment applications, and final accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with contractual obligations
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure effective communication and coordination throughout the project
To apply, you should possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in QS, Construction Management, or related field
- Working towards or achieved appropriate chartership (CIOB, RCIS)
- Comprehensive knowledge of QS practices
- Sound understanding of construction contracts, specifically the NEC Suite
- Proven experience as a QS within the construction or infrastructure industry
- Proficiency in tools such as BCIS, CostX, Bluebeam etc
You must have a valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
