Based at Renfrewshire House, Cotton Street, Paisley. Renfrewshire Council has 12,000 houses and our Housing Asset & Investment team is responsible for the maintenance and investment programmes for our housing stock. We now wish to appoint a Building Surveyor to provide building surveying services to the team on a range of capital and revenue investment programmes.
You will be responsible for identifying, specifying and managing the delivery of a range of housing repair and maintenance contracts which will be delivered by both in house and external contractors as part of the housing repair and maintenance strategy. You undertake a range of professional services including condition surveys, defect analysis, dilapidation surveys and schedules of condition.
You will have a degree or equivalent in Building Surveying as well as previous experience of working in a housing construction and maintenance environment. You will have knowledge of housing construction and maintenance issues and experience of providing a full range of professional services, including whole life costing and life cycle maintenance. You will have experience of JCT contractual arrangements as well as proven ability in managing and delivering a variety of projects effectively, have the ability to promote quality in all service areas including the delivery of customer focused outcomes, be experienced in analysing and reporting data, writing detailed reports and have effective IT skills.
You will also have effective interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm and be able to work to tight deadlines and under pressure. You must also have the ability to attend meetings out with normal office hours when required.
A current driving licence and use of a car is desirable.
If successful, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check, the level of check will be determined by the duties of the post.
