Responsibilities

Liaising with clients and reporting on progress to staff and the public

Supervising construction workers and hiring subcontractors

Buying materials for each phase of the project

Monitoring build costs and project progress

Conducting quality and safety inspections

Checking and preparing site reports, designs and drawings

Maintaining quality control checks

Motivating the workforce

Day to day problem solving and dealing with any issues that arise

Using specialist project management computer programmes

Working on-site in all weathers, at clients' businesses or in a site office

Role: Estate Support Manager

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum, DOE.

Hours: 37 hours per week, plus 1 week in 4 "on call"

Contract Length: 12 Months Fixed Term Contract

Location:Hybrid - in Support Centre (Taunton) 3 days per week.

A vacancy has arisen within Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association for an Estate Manager in the Estates Department based at Taunton.

The Wessex Reserve Forces’ & Cadets’ Association (RFCA) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting the 4,500 tri-service Reservists and 14,600 Cadets across the seven counties of the South West (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire Wiltshire, the City & County of Bristol) plus the Channel Islands, as well as providing support and assistance to the employers of Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers.

As an organisation we engage with the community in order to improve understanding of the roles and needs of the Armed Forces in general and the Reserve and Cadet Forces in particular. We are dedicated to raising awareness of the contribution they make to the nation and our region. The Wessex RFCA Estate Manager plays a significant role in overseeing and supporting the management and assurance of Hard FM in support of users of the Volunteer Estate, including Reserves and Cadets. In addition to Hard FM services across 1 county the Estates Manager will act as single point of contact for H&S liaison and delivery across the Wessex estate.

Candidates should hold or be willing to work towards full or associate level membership of relevant professional body - IWFM, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, NEBOSH or IOSH or have equivalent relevant experience

The salary is £35,290 per annum.

Annual leave, excluding public holidays, is 25 days per annum rising to 30 days after 5 years service. Previous service in the public sector will count towards qualifying years’ service.

The successful applicant will be eligible to elect to join the Council of RFCAs Pension Scheme. This is a Career Average Revalued Earnings (CARE) Scheme.
