Our client, a collaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Property & Casualty Claims Handler to join their vibrant and growing Insurance Group in Bristol. The firm has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household and commercial property Insurers in the market, as well as some large insureds and cover holders. The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage.

This role is based in our client's Bristol office, however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired, as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.

Your new role
The role largely involves running a case load of subrogated recovery matters on behalf of a range of insurers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to run a property recovery claim from first instruction, through the pre-action stage and into proceedings when necessary. A familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules is therefore necessary.

The work will be varied, interesting and challenging and where you show you can run the cases successfully, you will be given autonomy to stamp your own mark on the files; there will be the opportunity to work on matters varying in value from £10,000 all the way up to millions of pounds. You will also get involved with business development and client initiatives, where appropriate.

In addition, you can expect to:

Manage a large caseload of Property Insurance claims.
Deliver a high quality and timely output to clients, ensuring high levels of client service and alignment with agreed working practices and client service level agreements.

What you'll need to succeed
The ideal candidate will have prior Claims Handling and/or litigation experience, including running a case load. Experience of Insurance is preferable but not essential. Our client is happy to consider candidates either with a Law degree, those working towards ACII, CILEx or equivalent legal qualification, or alternatively you might have significant experience in claims, with technical knowledge and experience. Candidates should have litigation experience and a familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules.

An understanding of how to provide excellent customer service is essential, and you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated, with competent skills in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of using a case management system is desirable.

Standard Responsibilities

• Prepare project and consultant briefs as required to support the delivery of service and university strategic objectives.

• Be responsible for ensuring the university's condition records for all buildings are accurate and kept up to date with legislation/regulation changes.
• Discuss and establish end user requirements with facilities managers, academic staff and other stakeholders, outlining budget cost reports for works and projects to be undertaken and ensuring requirements are achieved within the relevant time and cost frameworks.
• Undertake site investigations and desktop studies of safety risks/defects to identify design solutions or mitigation measures, to be followed up with the rest of the team in order to address the problem or depending on their urgency, escalation as a maintenance project.
• Ensure compliance in design and execution of construction, alteration and maintenance works with all appropriate legislation and best practice, highlighting situations where existing buildings fail to comply with applicable legislation or industry best practice.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
