Quantity Surveyor – Construction - Glasgow - Up to 55K DOE



CBW have a new opportunity for an experienced quantity surveyor to join a contractor specialising in ECO / Government Schemes. The quantity surveyor will be tasked with analysing existing budgets and making improvements, reviewing plans, and preparing quantity estimates, negotiating with various contractors and vendors, as well as building relationships with clients and site managers.



Responsibilities:

- Reviewing construction plans and preparing quantity requirements.
- Scrutinizing maintenance and material costs, as well as contracts to ensure the best deals.
- Liaising with site managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
- Preparing reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessment, and other documents.
- Advising managers and clients on improvements and new strategies.
- Keeping track of materials and ordering more when required.
- Documenting any changes in design and updating budgets.
- Traveling from the office to various sites as required.



Requirements:

- Previous Experience in a surveying or estimating role required
- Degree in Quantity Surveying required
- Excellent numeracy skills
- A good working knowledge of pricing and quantification methods
- Strong communication and personal skills, and the ability to form effective relationships with colleagues and third parties.

Senior Construction Buyer - Renewable Energy (Office based) - Glasgow - Salary circa £55,000 DOE

Reporting to the Financial Director the Senior Buyer will be responsible for creating a new buying division. You will be responsible for growing and managing this division and growing your own team within the business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Buyer that is looking for a new challenge that they could bring their wealth of experience and implement into a growing business.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Growing this division from ground up
- Managing a robust procurement and ordering process.
- System upgrade and implementation.
- Providing prices for all materials included in project plans and drawings.
- Identifying potential suppliers and new products.
- Contacting suppliers and sub-contractors to obtain quotations.
- Agreeing delivery times.
- Keeping detailed records and maintaining well-organized work schedules
- Negotiating contracts with supplier
- Performing cost analysis

Estate Technician

Glasgow

40 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 08:00am – 16:30pm

We have an opportunity for an Estate Technician to join our Estate Services team which consists of 15 people and is based in the Glasgow and Cumbernauld areas. As an Estate Technician you will be responsible for property clearances, bulk / fly tipping removal, grounds maintenance and litter picking. The ideal candidate will be hardworking with a keen eye for detail. All works should be completed to a high standard and in line with Health and Safety requirements. A full training plan will be provided as well as a company van and power tools.

The successful candidate will cover a variety of locations across Glasgow and Cumbernauld. The role of Estate Technician will involve working as part of a team of 2. They will be responsible for the tools and equipment used daily, which includes a work mobile phone.

The role of Estate Technician will include:

- Undertaking general caretaking duties which include cleaning communal areas such as stairs, doors and windows, removing bulk waste, litter picking, graffiti removal and the reporting of basic onsite repairs
- Clearing and cleaning void properties
- Gutter cleaning
- Bin store cleaning
- Compliance testing
- Grounds maintenance tasks to include lawn mowing, hedge trimming and general upkeep
- Working with customers to identify faults, resolving issues, and improving services
- Completing all documents and paperwork concerning tasks completed
- Ensuring tools and equipment are maintained in a suitable condition


Skills and experiences:

- Experience in a similar role or completing similar tasks
- Some experience of working to deadlines and prioritising work loads
- Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Practical experience in operating hand tools and light machinery
- Good communication and customer care skills
- This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK manual driving licence

The Role

This is a fundamental role in the company’s business strategy and requires an individual of a strong construction technical nature. Gaining specification and pulling the business through the contractors and distributors. The role will operate throughout the UK with some minimal European travel, you will be responsible for the extensive existing accounts our client has in the area as well as being challenged with the development of new business opportunities in the area through product specification. You will work autonomously in the office and field environments developing the company’s ongoing business strategy and control of their already strong market share in the area and you will play an integral part in the company’s development. As well as the standard products our client wishes applicants to at all times look to extend their customers knowledge of the extensive total product range that they are able to supply, selling for a company with a well-known brand name and looking to give added value to their customers.

The Candidate

Suitable applicants must be able to show strong specification sales experience of the above markets and be looking for a challenging new role. Specification Sales experience is required however applicants must also have experience of dealing at a construction technical level and must enjoy the technical challenges this role provides. The key to this role is a construction product sales background, building envelope and façade exposure. Technical product supply and the ability to gain specifications, break specifications, work to maintain the specification through the contractor before setting up product supply through distributors. The successful applicant will be a dynamic addition that will demonstrate an active business awareness of the potential and importance of this role.
