Napton House (Wharf Street) is a large, modern building comprising of 15 flats providing Supported Living opportunities for people with a learning disability, physical disability, complex needs and autism. Our aim is to support people with learning disabilities and associated needs to explore life opportunities, build and develop upon their unique skills, promote choice and independence, and achieve what is important to them.

We are looking for a knowledgeable, resourceful and energetic senior support worker who will work alongside the supported living manager in achieving our aims. You must be enthusiastic about the provision of services for individuals and have a good insight into current thinking and practice in the field.

You must have skills in positive communication and engagement and will be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard for the people we support. You will also have skills in the assessment of needs along with positive and proactive risk management so that support planning for individuals demonstrates an active and fulfilling life with an emphasis on a ‘can do’ approach. Senior Support Worker Duties:
- Develop and sustain warm and trusting relationships with service users.
- Enable service users to gain independence, confidence and competence in areas such as: social skills/relationships, personal care and hygiene, daily living and many more.
- Monitor, review and evaluate protocols for people with complex needs in line with person centred plans.
- Assist service users in the administration and monitoring of prescribed medication following the Scheme’s Medication Policy.
- Offer support and supervision to junior staff, relief staff, students and volunteers as appropriate, under direction of the Supported Living Manager


You must have at least one years’ experience in supporting people with a learning disability. Full training offered.

About the role

As a Senior Care Assistant at MHA you will lead and inspire a team of committed care assistants to provide the highest quality of care to our residents enabling them to live later life well. About you

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will be passionate about caring for older people, have previous care experience and, as a minimum, hold an NVQ level 2 or equivalent in health and social care and be willing to complete level 3. In addition, you will have experience leading, coaching and motivating a team to deliver high quality care.

You will have a kind, warm and caring nature and be able to work well as part of a team but also use your own initiative. Patience, communication and listening skills are equally important. Maintaining accurate records, time management and prioritising tasks will also be strengths.
