Job Summary

Please note that this position is temporary.

You will be a motivated, enthusiastic and caring person who enjoys working with adults who have Autism & a learning disability.

You will be responsible for supporting & supervising social care staff within the service– you will play a pivotal role within the management team.

Applicants must be experienced in working with adults with Autism & a learning disability, preferably in a residential/ care at home support setting and possess the relevant skills to achieve a safe balance of promoting independence and managing risk.

You must be an excellent communicator and team player who can develop good relationships with colleagues and service users. You will show a commitment to promoting person centred approaches within your working practices.

You must have a sound understanding of social care values and of the professional role involved as a senior social care worker in working with adults with learning disabilities.

Experience in working with adults with Autism & learning disabilities is essential.

Ideally applicants will hold a Scottish Vocational Qualification in Care at level 4 or be willing to work towards this qualification to meet SSSC requirements.

Senior Service Lead Glasgow– 39 hours per week

£27,000 per annum

We are looking for a Senior Service Lead to join our friendly and welcoming team in Glasgow. You’ll have a really rewarding role working with a great team of people. We deliver creative, dynamic and person centred services providing a range of individualised support to our service users.

The Role

The role will be an even split between operational, administrative and staff management duties and undertaking the responsibilities of a Support Worker.

The Senior Service Lead will report directly to the Registered Locality Manager and will work closely with other senior team members to ensure the delivery of high-quality support services. This comprehensive role requires a compassionate and experienced leader; the role is essential to the continuous improvement and effective operation of our services. We aim to provide the best possible person centred support to adults with autism and learning difficulties while fostering a supportive and professional environment for our staff.

Whilst on rota as a Support Worker you will provide support to our service users. You will help the people we support to live their life the way they want, ensuring they have choice and control over the planning and delivery of their support. You will enable them to reach their potential by providing both physical and emotional support along with encouraging them to develop positive relationships and engage with the community. You will be supporting individuals with a variety of needs: helping with finances, personal care, domestic tasks and medication.

It is important that you uphold and implement our values, policies and procedures and are a positive role model for the staff team. You will regularly conduct supervisions and appraisals to monitor performance, provide feedback and support professional growth. You will ensure the team are up to date on all required training and registrations, assisting where needed to ensure we have a highly effective and well informed workforce.

You will be required to conduct regular health and safety audits across services to promote a safe living and working environment. This will involve identifying and coordinating any required maintenance, reviewing care plans regularly and auditing paperwork against high compliance standards. Part of the role will also involve welcoming new employees into our service. You will greet potential candidates, conducting service tours and if successful provide inductions to equip them with a full understanding of the working environment and role expectations.

As a Senior Support Worker, you will coach and mentor your team, providing regular support including supervision and identifying training needs. You will be responsible for producing the monthly rotas, whilst considering budgetary requirements and ensuring that all staff meet their contracted hours. On call duties will be allocated to you on a rotational basis.

Working alongside the Service Manager, part of your role will include liaising with external health professionals and facilitating meetings with supported individuals and important people in their lives to create accurate and effective person-centred support plan. You’ll effectively match the people we support with staff members, considering the specific outcomes and goals set for each individual.

What we’re looking for:

Minimum of at least 2 years previous experience of supporting individuals within care.
A passion with experience of delivering high quality, person-centred care and support.
Great verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to plan and prioritise workload.
Good understanding of SSSC Codes of Practice and Health & Social Care Standards.
SVQ Level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare or be willing to work towards your qualification.
Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with supported individuals, families, healthcare professionals and stakeholders.
Ability to motivate and lead others.

Desirable:

Experience of working with individuals who have autism and a knowledge of positive behaviour approaches to support.
Have a driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Our Senior Support Workers generally work Monday to Friday, however there may be times you’ll need to provide cover for on-call shift work. Based on the needs of the service these could include evenings, sleepovers, waking nights, weekends and public holidays.

About You

What’s essential, though, is your brilliant positive energy and natural ability to get along with people. You’ll know what good record keeping looks like and be able to manage your time effectively. And, whenever you communicate with a resident or co-worker, you’ll be truly considerate and kind.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and therefore it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas. Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist in the day to day operational management and leadership of Adult Day Services Team ensuring effective and safe delivery of services which promotes and maximises the safety and independence of the individual and helps them realise their capacity and potential.

The Senior Day Services Officer post is based in our Allander Resource Centre that provides direct support to individuals who have learning disabilities and/or autism to engage in meaningful daytime activities from both the building base and in the community. The successful candidate will require to provide leadership and support in the provision of a person centered approach for individual service users as well as in assessment of individual needs. They will also provide staff with professional support, guidance and supervision and will participate in, and contribute to the writing of strategic plans.

Previous experience of working in Adult Day Services and at least two years previous experience in social care would be required.
