We have a rare opportunity for a leading role in delivery of the council’s housing allocations service. The primary focus of this post is to work with the Allocations Manager to ensure the team deliver all processes and activities in full compliance with the service statutory duties, procedures and targets as related to the allocation of council housing.

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen to lead a Homeless Support Team within the Housing Need service in West Lothian. This is a chance for a skilled and motivated individual to take the lead role in making a difference to the lives of people who are experiencing homelessness and require support whilst living in our temporary accommodation. The role is essential to the delivery of the service aims of finding sustainable long-term solutions to the housing needs of some of the most vulnerable people in the area, and is key to delivering high quality services to avoid crisis.

The key role and responsibility is to manage the void management team ensuring that the voids process is undertaken efficiently through ensuring coordination of the void re-let standard of properties, including mainstream, temporary tenancies and any other properties.

You will plan, supervise, coordinate the work allocation and performance of the team and also be responsible for updating management systems and coordinating the team to carry out accompanied viewings and arranging prospective sign up agreements of new tenants.

You will also undertake the activities of the voids management officers to minimise void re-let timeframes and minimise rental loss time acted as necessary to ensure that all voids are re-let within agreed timescales.

You should have a Housing SVQ Level 2 or above; relevant experience in a housing or technical property inspection environment for 2 years.
