The Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) in V16 Clinical Resource Hub is assigned to the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Little Rock, Arkansas. The LMSA will normally work at the HUB located on 900 South Shackelford Road, Little Rock, AR or remotely. The LMSA Performs duties related to the receipt, intake and indexing of health and administrative information and will interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as numerous Vista applications. The LMSA monitors and makes work assignments, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow.
The primary duties of the Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) may include but are not limited to:
- Assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility.
- Conducting ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work.
- Ensuring accurate and timely scheduling of appointments.
- Providing guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures.
- Distributing and balancing workload.
- Creating and maintaining employee work schedules.
- Orienting and providing on-the-job training for new and current employees.
- Ensuring all training requirements are met.
- Organizing the work structure of the assigned areas.
- Acting as a liaison between MSA and staff in order to resolve day to day conflicts.
- Planning and organizing work with general assistance from the supervisor.
- Reporting special assignments and only referring the non-routine and high technical problems to the supervisor.
- Reporting backlogs, difficulties in meeting deadlines, uncooperative physicians, and difficulty in securing information from clinicians or the record.
- Maintaining confidentiality of the information obtained to carry out required duties.
- Communicating with physicians, case managers, and other allied health professional staff regularly while using sound interpersonal skills.
- Working independently to make decisions based on guidelines, precedents and regulations and performs duties in such a manner that minimal supervision is required.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday - Friday from 7:30am-4:00pm CST or Monday - Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm CST; May vary based on needs of the service. To be discussed upon call to interview.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)
Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
Telework: Not available. This is a remote position. May have to travel to the nearest VA facility for the following: VA-issued Equipment/repairs/updates, internet outages, trainings that are required in-person and not offered virtually, or other circumstances that may occur.
