The role forms part of a dynamic team providing a 'helpdesk' type service. Day to day tasking may involve call handling, data input & responding accordingly to any issues that may occur in a calm efficient manner.

Person Specification

Essential:

Shift Pattern:

To provide training and development for staff for their specialist intervention area, working individually or with groups as required.

To work with identified students with social communication needs on 1:1 basis; in small groups within or out of lessons, tutor time, Professional Development Days and in other curriculum experiences as appropriate/planned to deliver specialist interventions.

To monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of intervention work, reporting regularly to the Head of Centre.

To attend and contribute to reports and planning or review meetings for students receiving intervention, as appropriate.

To provide advice and guidance to parents and work with outside agencies.

The Service:

The Children and Families Services helps supports and protects Portsmouth's most vulnerable children and young people enabling them to lead safer, healthier and more fulfilling lives. It also acts as the corporate parent for the city's Looked after Children. Going forward, the service and its Business Support function will embrace change, have a strong and sharp focus on exceptional customer care, and will respond flexibly and effectively to transformational developments.

Your New Role:

You will provide high quality administrative business support within the Fostering Team. The team recruit new foster carers and provide ongoing support to existing foster carers, and you will play a vital part in the Business Support Administrative functions to ensure the smooth-running of business processes. You will take minutes, deal with inquiries and correspondence, book meetings, maintain files, and carry out a wide variety of administrative tasks. You will also support preparations for Ofsted inspections and for Fostering Panels. You will initially be fully office-based for training, moving to hybrid working later.

What you'll need to succeed:

You have strong administrative skills with experience of working in an administrative/customer-focused role, and ideally also experience in Children and Families Services. You have excellent communication skills and are a good listener, able to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity when handling difficult and upsetting situations. You can develop a good professional rapport with colleagues, and work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team. You have the ability, drive and enthusiasm to develop and implement new working practices and procedures.
