Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Support Workers to join our incredible team in Waterlooville.
As a Support Worker, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs.
From assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support, you’ll play a vital role in their life.
Prior experience of supporting individuals with epilepsy would be desirable for this role.
At our Waterlooville service we can teach our support workers all the skills you need to learn by supporting you through our unique induction programme. You will learn skills that you will be able to use for the rest of your life.
The service is a large spacious house with a lovely garden. We support 3 individuals in all aspects of their lives. The role of a support worker can be dynamic, supporting people out and about, BBQs in our garden, eating out, shopping and visiting family. The role is also domestic, health and safety around the house, cleaning, laundry, gardening; everything we all do to run a smooth household. The role is very personal, support in the bathroom/shower and getting dressed, support to style someone’s hair, support with eating and drinking, health needs and medication.
No two days are ever the same, at times they may be challenging, exciting and ridiculously rewarding. Some days will be slower, not so exciting and a bit repetitive. Overall, you will find that being a support worker is an brilliant role and you will be part of a team that really does make a difference to people's lives.
What we're looking for:
- A genuine passion for supporting others.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
Shift times:
All our services are 24hr care. We prepare the rotas at least 4 weeks in advance so you can still plan your personal and social life!
- 4 Nights on, 4 Nights off rota
- 36 hours
