Detailed job description and main responsibilities This post will be based within the Acute Conditions Research Team, supporting research studies within various disciplines including but not exclusively, Anaesthetics, ICU, Surgery, ED/Trauma, MSK and Stroke.You will be working as part of our small, friendly team, responsible for identifying, recruiting and supporting patients throughout their research journey. The post is primarily based at Blackburn Royal Teaching Hospital. However, the post holder may also be expected to support trials at Burnley General Teaching Hospital and other Trust sites, to meet the needs of our patients and studies. Therefore flexibility is an essential attribute. Most of the research activity is undertaken Monday to Friday within normal office hours. However, research activity times may also vary and early starts (7:30 onwards) or late finishes (after 5pm) may be required to accommodate studies involving morning theatre lists & late running clinics. This will always be on a planned basis & a flexible working policy is in place.Our team ethos is to maximize the potential of our own, individual skills. It will enhance professional and personal development within Medical Education. Obs & Gynae training at ELHT is in a well-supported environment. Although this post is not a recognised UK training post, the post-holder will have a named, enthusiastic supervisor, and be supported in undertaking a wide range of CV-enhancing activities. During your time you will undertake activities including; Contributing to clinical placements of all learners in Obs & Gynae providing; Teaching clinics and ward rounds Skills sessions including resuscitation updates and scenarios Ward based supervision/teaching sessions Bedside teaching sessions Lecture and tutorial session (where required) Case presentations CBL and/or PBL sessions Simulation sessions (where required) It is anticipated that majority of the post holders role will be focused on undergraduate medical students and physician associates in locality. Produce regular reports and audit data on progress to the Clinical Module Lead which are clear, fluent, concise and easily understood. To actively seek to maximise data quality and integrity of information used across the health community. Conform to ELHT Informatics policies, procedures and working practices at all times. To provide all trust staff with the skills necessary for them to use IM&T systems efficiently in the areas of the system used within their own specialty/department for the delivery of patient care through high quality and relevant training programmes incorporating the relevant organisational values, objectives, policies and procedures to support the system and its use. Maintain safe use of all IT equipment used and ensure secure working on all IT systems. Issue and deactivate user IT accounts for all systems. Liaise with informatics colleagues to agree, implement and maintain fault/issue reporting procedures. Liaise with system suppliers, reporting problems as and when required. Manage all system working processes, following guidelines and escalating issues as required to on call services. Communicate with external organisations, such as system suppliers and other multi-disciplinary organisations. To be responsible for ensuring the development, delivery and co-ordination of the education and training of pathology staff. To develop an innovative approach to clinical education working with education providers in developing/evolving programmes to meet the needs of the service and the changing professional educational landscape, maximising the use of technology wherever possible. To work with Clinical Team Leads to establish and maintain a comprehensive programme of clinical training / teaching within the clinical teams and across sites, in accordance with evidence-based practice and professional bodies/ HCPC. Undertake and/or facilitate regular practical and theoretical training with Biomedical Science staff, evaluating and making the most efficient use of all education resources both within the trust and externally. To undertake a baseline assessment of learning needs utilising competency frameworks for clinical staff in collaboration with clinical teams. To lead the TNA process for Pathology and ensure that all the identified training needs are entered into the Trust Training Needs Analysis for consideration for training funding allocation. To undertake evaluation of training delivered both internal and external and to inform continuous improvement of the programme offer. Deliver education and training packages on an individual or group basis when required. Plan own workload ensuring all roles are undertaken in the appropriate timescale. Ensure staff develop a patient-centred evidence- based approach that provides clinically effective and safe care to meet a wide range of needs for patients and their significant others.
