An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Foot & Ankle team in a supporting role of Research & Outcomes Coordinator. The purpose of the research and outcomes coordinator is to support the unit goals in collecting outcome and complexity data on patients and supporting the various research activities of the unit. This will involve ensuring patients’ outcomes are collected and communicating with patients at all points of the patient pathway, face to face and on the telephone. Furthermore, the role is to coordinate data collection for the various unit studies, as well as supporting databases.
• Main duties include supporting the Foot & Ankle unit with collecting of patient reported outcome measures (PROMS), collecting data on complexity, ensuring databases are kept up to date, preparing reports and present on the rates of PROMs and complexity data capture
• To work with the Foot & Ankle unit to identify research and audit questions and help coordinate liaison with the information team to obtain relevant reports–
• Extract data from clinical records where appropriate
• Work with Clinical Nurses and schedulers to ensure data for operations, treatment and complications are recorded
• Support collection of data for various ongoing and future studies– this includes data for post-market surveillance, and prospective studies

The Foot & Ankle Unit at the RNOH is a busy tertiary referral centre seeing complex neurological cases, second opinions. The unit is also actively involved in clinical research and runs a number of prospective studies. Collecting accurate outcome data is essential to the unit’s research goals.

The post-holder will support continuous development of research management structures required for delivery of good quality research from the development of first ideas to studies publication. The post-holder will lead a team of facilitators and liaise with Research Delivery lead on delivery of projects. The post holder will liaise with both internal and external parties as and when required in relation to the conduct of the role.
• Work closely with the local investigators, academic collaborators, and clinical staff to ensure effective and safe delivery of research taking place within the Trust.


• Oversee a small team of research facilitators


• Be familiar with the regulatory and ethics requirements for the conduct of clinical research, especially the Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice, and related guidance, in order to ensure delivery of authoritative advice to investigators and continued compliance with regulations and governance.


• Help and support the development of musculoskeletal research within the Trust as well as externally.


• Assist in the development, implementation and administration of research and clinical monitoring activities at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital


• Establish and maintain effective systems of recording, storing and linking research monitoring at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.


• Plan, design and conduct audits of clinical research activity at Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, including informed consent and adherence to research protocols in conjunction with research coordinators and clinical research teams.


• Interpret research management and governance policy requirements and write workable operational process and work with research coordinators, senior researchers and clinicians to ensure that new procedures are implemented widely.

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours per week) for a pharmacy technician to play an integral part of the pharmacy department. A challenging and rewarding opportunity has arisen to join the pharmacy team and specialise in Education & Training of the technical workforce at the RNOH.

We are seeking a self-motivated, innovative and enthusiastic individual who will be working alongside the Lead Education & Training pharmacist. They will be responsible for training the medicines optimisation pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy support staff in the relevant training programmes for self-development as well as to improve the Pharmacy service.

Key responsibilities include:
• To lead, develop and maintain the medicines optimisation service at ward level
• The post holder will be responsible for leading the team of ward based technicians and managing their induction, training and appraisal and ensure standardisation with the Medicines optimisation service across the department
• Contribute to education and training and development of the pharmacy technical workforce
• Provide specialist pharmacy technical input into medicines optimisation contributing towards both operational and strategic development
• Contribute to the provision of a high quality patient focused medicines optimisation service to patients of the Trust
• Be a role model to all pharmacy staff

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, forward thinking and pro-active Pharmacy Technician to join our progressive team at RNOH. There is extensive scope for the successful applicant to develop on both a personal and professional level through exposure to all departmental activities, contributing towards portfolio building and the opportunity for further roles in the future.

Working closely with the pharmacy teams, you will:
• Contribute to the provision of a high quality patient focused medicines optimisation service to patients of the Trust
• Support pharmacists in service provision and extending the role of a pharmacy technician
• Help audit the service against set standards and assist in the review of service provision
• Ensure safe use of patients’ own medicines to optimise cost efficiency
• Provide specialist pharmacy technical input into ePMA & POA digital systems, contributing towards both operational and strategic development

Carry out medicine histories, advice on medications to be stopped or continued for surgery and escalate for review to pharmacists
