About the Role

Reporting to the Head Teacher, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership in:

• SEND: As SENDCO, ensure our SEND provision complies with national standards and meets the needs of every learner.
• Behaviour and Attendance: Drive high standards of behaviour and attendance, ensuring the policies and systems are effective and consistently applied.
• Pupil Transition: Oversee the seamless transition of students into and out of the Academy, supporting their success at every stage.


You will play a key role in the development of pastoral systems, lead a dedicated team of staff, and contribute to the overall leadership and improvement of the Academy.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead SEND provision, including maintaining the SEND register and provision map, managing EHCP reviews, and collaborating with parents, carers, and external agencies.
• Champion behaviour and attendance excellence through strategic planning, data analysis, and implementation of effective interventions.
• Manage pupil transitions, ensuring information flow and successful integration of new starters and leavers.
• Line-manage staff, deliver CPD, and embed collaborative and inclusive practices.
• Serve as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), contributing to the Academy’s safeguarding culture.
• Promote and implement policies that celebrate diversity, inclusion, and mutual respect.


Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

• A proven track record in leadership, ideally as a SENDCO or in a pastoral leadership role.
• Expertise in SEND legislation, behaviour management, and student attendance strategies.
• Experience working collaboratively with parents, carers, and multi-agency teams.
• Outstanding teaching and learning practices, with the ability to model excellence.
• Relevant qualifications, including the National Award for SEND Coordination (or willingness to achieve this).

Queensbury School provides for 245 students who have MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties), ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition), SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties) and SEMH (Social Emotional and Mental Health). Mayfield School educates children and young people, who have a range of learning difficulties, between the ages of 3 and 19 and have approximately 300 students on roll.

About this Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Special Schools DLP School Attendance Officers. This is a newly formed team and although based at Wilson Stuart School you will be working across the city providing support to Birmingham Special Schools to work with families to support them and engage them in the learning with a particular focus on improving their school attendance. The appointment is initially on a fixed term contract until August 2026. Ideally, the successful candidate will have proven experience working in educational or family support settings, particularly in attendance management and /or safeguarding and experience of working within SEND.

About this Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Special Schools Outreach Support Teacher (SSOS). We are looking for an experienced Teacher who must have previous experience of working with students with SLD (Severe Learning Difficulties), MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) ASC (Autistic Spectrum Condition) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Based at Wilson Stuart School but working across the city, you will be providing support in these areas to mainstream schools as part of the Birmingham Special Schools Outreach Programme.

What skills and experience we're looking for

Yarnfield Primary School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced and qualified Learning Mentor to support the social, emotional and mental health well-being of our wonderful learners who maybe experiencing difficulties in these areas.

As a Learning Mentor, you must have a working knowledge of SEMH and associated difficulties, child development and methods of setting realistic programmes for disaffected and underachieving children. Your role will include; one to one mentoring and support to improve academic progress and learning, liaising closely with colleagues, families and outside agencies and supporting in the monitoring of behaviour and attendance of the identified groups.You will also be responsible for leading extra-curricular activities to promote learner engagement.

The successful candidate will have proven experience working with young people, ideally from a primary setting. You will also have excellent communication skills with children, parents and professionals and a sound knowledge and understanding of child development, and the issues relating to social exclusions. You must have the ability to work creatively with children and demonstrate a positive working attitude.
