We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and passionate teacher to our Religious Studies team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work within a high achieving school where Religious Studies is highly valued and delivered as a core subject from Y7-Y11. At Key Stage 3 we follow the syllabus set out by the Peterborough Diocese, as well as following the AQA specification at GCSE and OCR specification at A-Level[MKD1]. The appointed applicant will be part of a vibrant and well-resourced department that teaches all our students from Key Stage 2 through to A-Level.

We are in search of a School Teacher to join our Education Centre Based in Peterborough. The primary purpose of this role will be to support 14 -16 year-old students with academic, vocational and pastoral subjects, while developing the learners’ employability, personal and social skills. We are a supportive and friendly team, who work together to ensure quality of our provision, within the local community to support the needs of the locality.

What will I be doing as a School Teacher?

A School Teacher plays a critical role in supporting students' academic, personal and professional development on an ongoing basis.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Deliver training and support to a small cohort of 14+ year olds on Nacro’s School’s and Study Programme.

• Conduct initial assessments for all learners enrolled onto Nacro Education programmes ensuring the needs of learners are met.

• Develop appropriate learning resources, facilities, and environment to support high quality teaching and learning.

• Assist in the delivery of all accredited and non-accredited qualifications and support the practical and theoretical elements of the courses offered through the Study Programme.

• Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of learners and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their targets.

Requirements for this role

• Teaching qualification CET equivalent or above. However, we can offer support to achieve a teaching qualification.
• Level 2 English and Maths.
• IQA/Assessor qualification is desirable.
• A DBS check is essential.

We are looking for the following skills/attribute:

• Ability to engage with learners from different age groups.
• Excellent organisational and planning skills - ability to deal with conflicting priorities.
• Ability to work as part of a wider team.
• Communicating to a high standard at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
• Calm and objective when facing problems including dealing with challenging behaviour from learners.
• Previous teaching or learning support experience within an education setting is advantageous.

We are team of eight full-time and part-time History and Politics teachers offering high levels of expertise in teaching and learning, contributing to the college’s overall outstanding provision.

Teaching and learning have a strong emphasis on well-structured, teacher led activities to enable a varied and engaging lesson. It is a very committed and highly efficient Department. Relations between staff and students are also extremely strong and supportive.
