**Salary:** £30,000 to £35,000 DOE
**Hours: ** 40 hours early finish of a Friday
Our client is a leading provider of precision-engineered products , serving a variety of industries and sectors With a commitment to producing quality and innovation.
They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bookkeeper to join their team. In this role, you will oversee the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with accounting standards, while also managing credit control functions to optimise cash flow and minimise bad debt. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in bookkeeping and a proven track record of success in a senior-level position.
**Day to day duties will include the following:**
* Manage and oversee all aspects of the company's financial transactions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries.
* Implement and maintain effective credit control procedures to minimise bad debt and optimise cash flow.
* Monitor customer credit limits, review credit applications, and perform credit checks as needed.
* Proactively chase outstanding payments and resolve any disputes or issues with customers to ensure timely payment.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets.
* Reconcile bank statements and other financial documents to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies.
* Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
* Monitor cash flow and budget variances, providing analysis and recommendations as needed.
* Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure compliance with all accounting regulations and internal policies.
* Assist with the preparation of tax returns and other regulatory filings.
* Train and mentor junior staff members, providing guidance and support as needed.
* Stay informed about changes in accounting standards and regulations, implementing best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
**Experience Required:**
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or equivalent certification (preferred).
* Proven experience in a senior-level bookkeeping or accounting role.
* Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
* Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, or Peachtree.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* High level of integrity and ethical standards.
