Scientist for Advanced Photonics (Photonic device and PDK development)
As part of IME’s Photonics & Sensors Department, the candidate will work on photonic device and PDK library development. This will include photonic device simulation, fabrication, characterization, optimization, and PDK development. You will work closely with an excellent multidisciplinary team working on photonics, electronics, semiconductor processes, integration, and fab operation.
Responsibilities:
- Design of passive and active photonic devices based on various 8-inch and-12 inch material platforms.
- Take the lead in designing integration flows to manufacture the designed devices.
- Develop automated electro-optic characterization systems for the designed and fabricated photonic devices.
- Characterize photonic devices and perform design optimization to meet the required device performance.
- Develop PDK for optimized photonic devices.
- Prepare presentations and papers for internal meetings, conferences and journals.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure quality and on-time delivery for various projects. You will get a chance to be exposed to both industrial and academic projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Integrated Photonics, Microelectronics, Opto-electronics, Physics or equivalent.
- Experience in one or more topics listed below is strongly preferred: Si photonics, SiN photonics, compound semiconductor photonics, photonic computing, quantum computing, LiDar, optical switch array.
- Strong hands-on experience in photonic device development or photonics integration.
- Strong hands-on experience in photonic simulation using various electrical / photonics design software.
- Strong communication, industry awareness, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong self-motivation and interest in the next-generation photonics technology development.
