Are you an ambitious researcher looking for your next challenge? Do you have an established background in Structural Biology, particularly Cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM), NMR or HDX-MS? Do you want to further your career in one of the UKs leading research intensive Universities?

Based in the laboratories of Professor Alex Breeze and Dr Stephen Muench at the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology, you will work on an exciting project deciphering the chaperone interaction cycle of fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs).

The project is funded for 9 months by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) and will involve solving high-resolution structures of complexes of FGFR intracellular domain with HSP90 and Cdc37 chaperone components using cryo-EM, as well as investigating dynamics and interaction epitopes using NMR spectroscopy and hydrogen-deuterium exchange (HDX-MS). Exceptional facilities and training are available in Leeds to support the project, including two Titan Krios electron microscopes equipped with the latest detectors as well as state-of-the-art cryoprobe-equipped NMR spectrometers including Bruker Avance III HD Aeon 950 MHz and Waters Synapt HDMS IM-MS, HDX and FPOP mass spectrometers.

You should have a PhD (or close to completion) in structural biology or a closely allied discipline, with experience in cryo-EM and potentially also NMR spectroscopy and/or structural MS, as well as protein expression, purification and labelling for the study of large proteins.

The national Terminology and Classifications Service publishes mandated clinical coding systems (terminology and classifications) under section 250 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012. The classifications (ICD and OPCS-4) are used in every NHS hospital system across the UK to support national reporting. The Classifications Specialist (Trainer/Developer) will be part of the team that delivers the Clinical Coding Trainer and Auditor training programme. This includes producing core national training materials for cascade to approved trainers for local training ensuring correct coding of the rule-based classifications.

The post holder will be involved in the ICD-11 MMS (the latest revision of ICD) implementation preparations and creating awareness and training materials for the NHS coding workforce.

As a Classifications Specialist (Trainer/Developer) your responsibilities will include:
• Developing and updating national classification training materials using a variety of training techniques for blended learning
• Updating and streamlining the Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and Auditor supporting documents and guidance
• Providing subject matter expert input to the specialist eLearning development
• Co-delivering all events scheduled for the Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and Auditor Programmes
• Leading formal classification user networks, focus groups and speaking at conferences and other events as well as providing well informed and expert advice that it is properly understood by the recipients
• Presenting complex, sensitive, or contentious information / concepts, as well as assessment feedback, analysis, ideas, and positions in a clear succinct, convincing, and professional manner

As a major part of the IRLSS team’s portfolio the Data for Research and Development Programme is a multi-million poundGovernment Major Projects Programme (GMPP) which aims to:

The Deputy Director Data for Research is responsible for delivery of this programme working closely with the programme SRO and the Director of Research. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a GMPP programme managing a talented and driven team.

We are seeking an experienced senior leader who has extensive experience of delivering large complex programmes across departments withan in depth specialist knowledge of the NHS data for research ecosystem including the infrastructure, architecture and policy.

The ability to work effectively with key stakeholders including the life sciences industry, academia, NHS R&D community, voluntary and charitable sector organisations is key to successful delivery and the successful applicant will have a track record of building strong collaborations with partners and stakeholders. An in depth understanding of the issues inherent in the use of patient data for purposes other than direct care is essential as is the need to ensure patient and public involvement is at the heart of decision making.

The successful applicant will be an active and visible IRLSS SLT member with proven ability to build high performing teams, fostering an environment for individuals and the team to thrive.

· Develop the infrastructure across the NHS for a federated network of national and sub national secure data environments offering a single front door to NHS data for research

· Lead and work closely with colleagues acrossthe Transformation Directorate to enable matrix working across sub directorates to ensure alignment and collaboration in delivery to support data enabled research and specifically delivery of the Data for R&D programme

· Represent the Data For R&D programme at high-level engagement withArms-Length Bodies, across Government, with industry, and all other stakeholders acrossthe health and care system.

· Drive and challengework across health regulators to ensure that the regulatory system supports wide-spread data-driven research and better partnerships with researchers and innovators. All with the aim of harnessing value for the NHS.

· Work across internal and external stakeholders to ensure patient and public involvement and engagement is at the heart of decision making and is embedded in the programme
