History is a highly valued and popular subject at the King’s (The Cathedral) School. The department consists of a team of experienced and hard working specialists led by a very supportive Head of Department. The team have enjoyed strong academic success over a prolonged period of time and the subject is popular at both GCSE and A Level.

Teachers at the school enjoy working and interacting with our students. They are mature, highly motivated and inquisitive making teaching a stimulating and rewarding experience. The Department is located in its own suite of modern classrooms and a staff workroom. All classrooms are equipped with projectors, interactive whiteboards and computers. Outside of the classroom, the team provide a wide range of support and opportunities for students including offering a range of subject specific trips. The team are reflective in their practice and there is a strong culture of nurture and support for new colleagues. The team are always looking to develop their pedagogy, especially in how students can best retain a great deal of subject knowledge.

Mathematics is a highly valued and popular subject at the School. We are fortunate to work with a team of experienced and hard working specialists led by a very supportive Head of Department. As second in charge of our Mathematics team you will work in partnership with the Head of Department to ensure that standards across the subject remain high. The specific nature of the role will be discussed at appointment but would typically include leading a key stage, making a significant contribution to quality assurance, and ensuring that strong pedagogy within the department remains a key focus.

The team have enjoyed strong academic success over a prolonged period of time. At GCSE in 2024 students achieved an overall progress score of +0.42, whilst at post 16, 76% of A Level Mathematics grades were A*-B and for Further Mathematics, this was 93%.

What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint a well-qualified and passionate teacher to our Religious Studies team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to work within a high achieving school where Religious Studies is highly valued and delivered as a core subject from Y7-Y11. At Key Stage 3 we follow the syllabus set out by the Peterborough Diocese, as well as following the AQA specification at GCSE and OCR specification at A-Level[MKD1]. The appointed applicant will be part of a vibrant and well-resourced department that teaches all our students from Key Stage 2 through to A-Level.

This post would equally suit an application from an early career teacher, who would benefit enormously from strong mentoring, or alternatively from an experienced teacher who is looking to develop their skills in a new setting. The successful candidate will need to be able to teach across all age ranges and abilities, up to and including A-Level.

Sugarman's Children Services are looking for experienced Teachers to provide face to face alternative provision to SEN / SEND/ SEMH/ children and young people with challenging behaviours in and around Peterborough.

 

Our Children's Services division specialises in supplying trained and experienced teachers during or after school, including in a student's own home, on school premises or an alternative agreed venue.   

 

Our approach focuses solely on achieving goals for students, supporting growth, knowledge and development to demonstrate progress and harness their potential. Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging, flexible lessons tailored to individual student needs.

• Use creative strategies to manage challenging behaviour and support emotional well-being.

• Adapt the curriculum to suit individual needs, ensuring students remain engaged and motivated. Regularly assess students' progress and tailor lessons to meet their evolving needs.

 

To be eligible for this role you must have the following:     

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.

• Have a strong subject knowledge (English, Maths, Science and Functional Skills)     

• Minimum 2 years' experience working with children / young people in a classroom setting     

• Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service

• Hold right to work in the UK     

• Knowledge and understanding of the Safeguarding Policy     

• Taught in a classroom setting in the UK
