Peterborough Team Description Learning disability services are part of specialist services division. In this context the post holder will be working for the Peterborough part of the specialist division. Inpatient services comprise of 10 beds (currently 6 beds in operation) provided from Hollies ward, The Cavell Centre in Peterborough. The inpatient service works on acute assessment and treatment model with well-defined care pathways and was among the first few in the country to receive accreditation from the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Learning Disability Community Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Social Care staff of Peterborough Learning Disability Service are based at Sand Martin House, in Peterborough. Learning Disability Mental Health Services get 60-70 new referrals in a year. The most common reasons for these referrals are; challenging behaviour, mental disorders and epilepsy. We also provide specialist diagnostic assessments for Dementia in the learning disability population. General Responsibilities To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific client group and mental health. To comply with the Professional Codes of Conduct and to be aware of changes in these. To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all relevant legislation and local policies and procedures implementing this. To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest standard, and in accordance with currently quality initiatives within the work area. Supported Living Worker– Temporary placements

Pay Rate: £11.60 - £12.00 per hour, with additional pay for sleep-ins

Social Care & Education are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Supported Living Support Worker to provide essential care and assistance to individuals in their own home. This role is ideal for an experienced candidate skilled in supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health, challenging behaviours, and those recovering from addictions.

Duties
• Assist clients with personal care
• Create a positive and supportive environment to help clients feel secure and valued.
• Prepare meals tailored to each client’s dietary needs and preferences.
• Safely administer medication as prescribed, adhering to individual care plans.
• Implement strategies to support clients with challenging behaviours, adapting your approach to suit each client’s specific needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised living space for clients.
• Accurately document all care provided and report any changes in clients’ conditions to healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care.
• Support service users in the community, participate in activities
• Support client with budgeting and finances

Supported Living Worker: The Requirements

To be considered for this role, the right candidate will need the following experience / training / qualifications:
• At least 6 months experience working as a Support Worker/Supported Living Worker.
• Good Communication and Listening Skills.
• Valid DBS.

As our Student Wellbeing, Safeguarding & Engagement Advisor, you will play a vital role in supporting a safe, inclusive, and positive experience for all our students. This is a diverse role with key areas of focus that may vary depending on the student profile and department needs.

Currently, we are experiencing an increase in student support needs related to mental health and safeguarding, making these the initial priorities for this role. All aspects of the role are supported with training and coaching by experienced team members.

You'll work closely with a dedicated team to provide:

● Positive Engagement: Build relationships with students, promote positive behaviours
● Safeguarding & Wellbeing: Be part of our safeguarding team, ensure student safety, and provide mental health support.
● Supporting Vulnerable Students: Contributing to the wrap-around support for Children in Care, Young Carers, Care Leavers, Young Parents and those with medical needs
● Enrichment & Support: Contribute to vibrant student life by supporting relevant well-being events, activities, and initiatives.

What you will bring:

● Qualifications: Mental Health First Aid (Youth) and Level 2 Safeguarding qualification or commitment to achieve within 6 months. Any relevant qualifications that are appropriate such as mental health, learning support, working with young people, health and social care, mentoring
● Experience: Experience working with young people, adults and or vulnerable adults, and experience in safeguarding or child protection.
● Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and compassion. Ability to build rapport, support resolutions, and work independently and collaboratively.
● Enthusiasm: Passionate about supporting young people and creating a positive learning environment.
