Leidos is hiring a Systems Engineer with an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility at the Von Braun III building on Redstone Arsenal, AL.  All work is onsite.

Our Systems Engineer will provide advisory and assistance services (A&AS) to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Special Programs Directorate. 

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and able to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment with excellent communication skills to collaborate closely with customer and program personnel as well as Leidos team members.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review program requirements, specs, test plans, and program plans to design security solutions for the successful development, testing, and fielding of missile defense capabilities

• Determine and/or execute special security actions for a wide range of assignments, such as: developing Program Protection Plans, Sensitive Test Plans, Security Classification Guides, Standard Operating Procedures, and Operational tactics/techniques in implementing special program protection

• Provide Subject Matter Expert SME guidance on the security architecture design and execution of sensitive ground testing (digital, HWIL) and flight testing conducted in multi-level security environments

• Provide technical and security oversight for special program design, planning and management by guiding and implementing strategies to meet program needs/special demands crucial for effective program protection across multiple engineering disciplines, environments, and IT platforms 

• Discover information protection needs for missile defense sensor, interceptor, computer, and communications systems, and define security requirements for these systems.  Develop fully integrated system security architectures and support the implementation of security designs.

• Evaluate future technology integration with respect to critical program information (CPI) protection requirements.  Support horizontal protection studies and analyses to determine the value of specific classified technologies and ensure classifications are consistent with other department, agency, and directorate programs and elements.

• Develop and implement directorate special security policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods to identify and protect sensitive information, personnel, property, facilities, operations, or material from unauthorized disclosure, misuse, theft, espionage, sabotage, or loss. 

• Develop technical briefings for agency senior leadership, congressional staffers, combatant commands, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).  Assist in responding to Congressional requests for information/analysis and senior OSD and Service briefings.

• Collaborate closely with government and agency contractor personnel in a team environment.  Provide technical indoctrinations to new personnel. Support collaboration initiatives with international partners.

• Position involves daily coordination with agency senior staff and program managers

Basic Qualifications

*Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility

*BS in science/engineering with 3+ years of engineering experience in a DoD environment

*Experience supporting DoD special programs

Preferred Qualifications

•DoD Acquisition experience and/or previous Missile Defense experience (sensors, interceptors, C2BMC, AT, FMS, LO/CLO)

•Excellent technical writing/editing and oral communication skills to include fielding questions on the spot

•Extreme attention to detail and organizational skills

•Comfortable working in multi-level security environments

Leidos is currently seeking a Boundary Engineer in support of the AFINC II contract for the highly visible 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Montgomery, AL, which provides a world-wide support mission. The 26 NOS is responsible for the intranet support of the entire Air Force network. The mission of the 26 NOS is to operate and defend the Air Force (AF) Enterprise computer network consisting of the AF Wide Area Network (WAN) routers, AF Network Increment 1 (AFNET Inc 1) Gateways, and the 26 NOS Local Area Network (LAN) assets.

Primary Responsibilities

• Serve as a Boundary Protection Team Operator for the 26 Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama.

• Oversees intrusion detection, intrusion prevention, boundary protection and vulnerability assessment operations to defend the Air Force Network (AFNet). 

• Identifies unknown or unauthorized sources which attempt to access the AFNet and, when such attempts occur, notifies the appropriate AF agencies. 

• Monitors, operates, and maintains intrusion detection/prevention systems, firewalls, load balancers, and web proxies to protect AFNet resources from both internal and external threat.

    Network Operations:

• Manage all network security devices across the WAN, to include enterprise-wide functions for firewall, proxies, load balancers, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and malicious code response.

• Assist on-site LAN engineers with troubleshooting support of network equipment and installation of new hardware

• Perform minor and major operating system upgrades on all network security devices.

   Enterprise network troubleshooting:

• Must work with all corresponding technical support teams as required to resolve network traffic concerns.

• Utilize monitoring tools and log collectors to provide in-depth analysis on traffic anomalies and issues.

• Work network issues to resolution for customers via trouble tickets, change requests, and phone calls, in direct support with base-level, NOSC-level, and DISA counterparts.

• Receive inbound calls from enterprise customers and work with other external NOCs to troubleshoot and resolve policy configuration issues.

    Device Management:

• Experience configuring and managing IDS, Firewalls and other network security platforms.

• Familiarity and experience with Palo Alto firewalls, F5 appliances, and Cisco ASAs is preferred.

    Device and traffic monitoring:

• Performs daily health checks to acknowledge system level faults and begin the process of resolution.

• Utilizes monitoring tools and log collectors to begin initial analysis on network traffic, including (but not limited to) Splunk, Schnozz, ELK, InfoVista, and NIKSUN.

    Flexible schedule as needed:

• This position requires rotating weekends, 24x7 shift support, and periodic on call duties.

• It may be required to come in earlier than normal, stay later than normal, or work off shifts to meet contract requirements or to support network changes during off peak maintenance windows.

Basic Qualifications

• Position minimum requirements: BS degree and 3-5 years (Mid). Degree may be waived in lieu of additional years of related experience.

• A professional level network security CE/OS certification of PCNSA or equivalent

• Position requires IAT level II or higher; CompTIA Security+ or better security certification.

• DoD Secret level security clearance.
