About the Role:

We are looking for Environmental Scientists or Engineers to join our Geosciences & Remediation Services Team and our Impact Assessment & Permitting Team.

Environmental Science / Engineering Intern (Geosciences & Remediation Services)

As an Intern you will primarily assist with fieldwork and data collection from a wide range of sites. You will also support technical reporting on surface water and groundwater monitoring and assessments, contamination investigations and remediation projects of varying size and complexity.

You will work alongside a multi-disciplinary team of industry leaders and technical experts. You will split your time between field work and the office, therefore an ability and willingness to travel and work remotely in the field, is required.

Typical tasks will include:

• Completion of desktop reviews of environmental data.
• Supporting with planning of site works, including subcontractor management.
• Completion of a wide range of site investigation works using different assessment methods.
• Supporting with the collection, handling and management of environmental samples from a range of media.
• Data management and interpretation.
• Technical report writing.

Environmental Science or Engineering Intern (Impact Assessment & Permitting)

In this role you will support the team to contribute with major infrastructure projects, including advancing next-generation transportation and renewable energy projects.

You will utilise your science or environmental qualification/s to problem solve, provide technical insight and communicate with multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, drafters, project administrators and contractors, enabling you to develop your skills working in a fast-paced, consulting environment.

About the Civil Engineering Intern Role:

We are looking for a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Water Team.

The team delivers a range of projects, and you will be involved in our Multi-modal Transport, Three Waters, and Asset Engineering disciplines. Broadly the responsibilities will include assisting our Senior Engineers in civil design, and specifications for our projects, site supervision, health and safety requirements, preparing quotes and preparing information for proposals, and managing project resources. Our local projects are spread across Australia.

Interns will learn and grow into interest areas aligned with the AECOM business to become a capable technical team member that is key to our delivery teams. AECOM is expanding its dynamic Civil Infrastructure business in Newcastle and are looking for an experienced Principal Water Engineer to join our Water Infrastructure team.

Our services include network and treatment planning and design for water, wastewater and recycled water projects.

The role of a Principal Water Engineer is critical to delivering projects on-time, to a high-quality and ensuring the ongoing collaboration between internal and external stakeholders.  Depending on the scope of the projects, the Principal Engineer can typically be involved in multiple projects – effectively managing their time and dedicating the correct resources to each project.

You will have world class people around you to achieve your results, including (but not limited to) our renowned structural engineering and ground engineering teams based in the same office and supported on a global scale, but one of your key challenges will be to prioritize your tasks on an ongoing basis, so it will be important to be organised and confident in your ability.

Your daily role will include a nice mix of using your technical and management skills.  Technical works might include planning and design work, whereas management works will include management of projects, clients and mentoring junior engineers.
