Job Title: Full – Time Diesel Mechanic
Location: Atherton Tablelands
Job Overview: Lakeshore Pty Ltd is an agricultural business which grows Avocados on the Atherton Tablelands in the Nth QLD. We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and components, performing scheduled maintenance, and ensuring vehicles meet performance and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in diesel engines and related components.
• Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other parts for inspection and repair. Assess and check components for wear and damage.
• Repair or replace worn and defective parts. Reassemble mechanical components as needed, referring to service manuals and technical documentation for guidance.
• Perform routine maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, and engine tune-ups, to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with pollution regulations.
• Reassemble engines and other components following repairs. Test and adjust mechanical parts to verify proper performance and functionality.
• Utilize diagnostic computers and tools to assist in diagnosing and testing engine parts and systems.
• Inspect vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or provide detailed reports on necessary work to achieve roadworthiness.
• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide on-site repair and maintenance services as needed.
• Carry out a variety of technical tasks relevant to the skillset of the employee, as directed, supporting the farm’s overall agricultural and operational needs.
Main Tasks:
• Use diagnostic tools to assess engine performance, identify faults, and determine necessary repairs.
• Efficiently disassemble and reassemble engine components and assemblies, ensuring all parts are in good working condition.
• Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including changing oils, lubricating parts, and tuning engines, to maintain vehicle performance and compliance with regulations.
• Replace defective parts with new or refurbished components, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
• Conduct post-repair testing to confirm that all systems are functioning correctly and adjust settings as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed. Prepare reports as needed, including detailing work required for roadworthiness.
• Provide timely assistance for vehicle breakdowns, including on-site diagnostics and repairs.
• Carry out a variety of technical tasks relevant to the skillset of the employee, as directed, supporting the farm’s overall operational needs.
Qualifications:
• Minimum 2-years experience as a Diesel Mechanic or in a similar role.
• Relevant qualifications or certifications, preferably AQF III certificate or above.
