In this role, the qualified individual will be expected to:
- Perform conceptual and detailed HV and MV Substation Physical/Electrical design for medium to large scale utilities/substations (including basic layout, electrical arrangement, one line, three line drawings, plan-section, grounding, AC and DC system drawings)
- Review, analyze and execute complex technical studies and project scopes.
- Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and standards of equipment and projects.
- Perform Quality Control reviews on medium to large substation physical design projects.
- Create and review bill of materials for substation physical projects.
- Perform engineering cost estimates and proposal development efforts for substation physical projects.
- Develop and provide advanced technical presentations to the team to assist with staff technical development.
- Plan and manage mentoring and training of junior engineers.
- Be involved in client interaction (including site visits) with a drive for customer satisfaction.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with the internal teams and clients to meet project objectives.
What you will bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or related degree with twelve plus (12+) years of Substation physical design experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of the utility grid (power generation, transmission and distribution) system.
- Experience with advanced engineering studies and calculations (lighting, grounding studies, Arc flash, AC & DC load studies, volt-drop, lightning studies and protection)
- Experience with HV and MV Physical Electrical Design for medium to large scale utility substations including Electrical Layout, Design and Specification for: DC Systems, Station Service, Battery, DC Panels and Switchgear, Chargers, ATS, MTS AC Systems, AC Station Service, AC Panels and Switchgear, AC Transformer Auxiliary Power.
- Experienced in sizing of major equipment and selection of substation material.
- Experience with substation project construction and commissioning.
- Knowledge of North American codes and standards such as IEEE and ANSI, and knowledge of NERC and FERC regulations.
- Registered Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license
It would be nice if you had:
- Master’s degree in related field
- Working knowledge of protection and control design
- Experience with rigid bus calculations
- Experience with WinIGS or CDEGS

Pay Range:
Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00
