RESPONSIBLIITIES
o Ensure all machinery is running efficiently and any breakdowns are repaired quickly, continually monitoring and minimising the impact on production at all times
o Regular inspections of the building and machinery to detect and resolve problems early
o Train machine operatives on safe operation and maintenance of machinery
o Engineering project managing as required (e.g. researching new machinery/equipment, processes etc)
o Supervise all repairs carried out by external contractors or machine operators
o Ensure operators are completing daily maintenance checks on their machines, with accurate record keeping
o Respond to emergency maintenance calls
o Work closely with the factory manager to review and implement factory improvements
o Maintain adequate supplies of machine spares/tooling etc.
o Management of safety training for operators (FLT, stackers, machines etc.)
o Ensuring the factory operates to current H&S legislation and makes appropriate changes and/or suggestions to ensure we are working to this level at all times
o Ensure all regulatory maintenance is carried out when required (LOLER testing, pressure testing etc.)
o Supervision and management of the security contracts for the building
o Working with procurement when new machinery is purchased to ensure appropriate safety measures are considered, and training arranged for operators and maintenance staff
o Responsible for accurate and up to date record keeping for all planned and completed maintenance, including budget monitoring and control
o Clear and accurate communication to factory management and Directors relating to budgets, schedules and any unplanned expenses incurred

You will be required to visit sites across the city and potentially beyond the Salford boundary, so a full driving licence is required.

You will require effective written and oral communication skills and well-developed numeracy skills. Knowledge of highway construction materials and methods of application. Have excellent organisational skills and a good team worker who can motivate and lead by example and be able to communicate effectively with a varied range of customers and colleagues You will require the ability to set and work to prescribed deadlines and targets.

About the role

As a Highway Engineer your primary purpose will be to prepare the Highway Network Maintenance Schemes for delivery, including pre-measures, preparation of drawings and specification and in consultation with other members of the team determine appropriate material choices to ensure that the City’s Highway Network is maintained to a high standard. You will also respond to correspondence from Councillors, Neighbourhood Managers, other officers, and members of the public in a timely manner in relation to an issues arising with regard to the schemes. You will also assist the Team Leader in the preparation of other works programmes from time to time as service area demands.

* Currently officers are working from home or in the Civic Centre (by prior booking arrangements). The Highway Engineer role requires the officer to be working at various sites within the Salford City Council boundary. Occasionally there may be requirements to travel outside of the Salford boundary to attend some meetings.

You will be carrying out planned and reactive maintenance of both plant and building equipment as well as any further building work such as fabric and mechanical, as required. You will also:

They have approached Hays to appoint an IT Engineer to join their well established central IT team, with this role being based at a secondary school in the Salford area. The secondary school itself has an excellent reputation locally and is easily commutable from across the Greater Manchester area.
Your new role
Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be responsible for working closely with fellow IT colleagues to ensure the maintenance of software, hardware and related IT equipment across both the school and the trust, working closely with end users whilst also supporting the delivery of IT projects. On a daily basis, this will include the installation and updating of software, installation and building of hardware, whilst also responding to any helpdesk requests from end users around this equipment. You will also be working with education sector specific IT equipment on a daily basis, working with bespoke software and technologies, therefore allowing you to further develop your skills and experience. In addition to this, you will support the delivery of IT projects across the trust, which could be focused around upgrading the trust's infrastructure from a network perspective, introducing a new information management system or rolling out new equipment to end users. You will become an integral part of the IT team, working closely with both pupils and staff, as well as the wider IT and support staff team.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess significant IT Engineer/IT Technician experience, having ideally worked in the education sector providing IT support previously, whether this be for a school, multi-academy trust, or managed service provider. You will be seeking a position with a progressive organisation where you can provide a high level of support, working as part of a wider team.
