EBAD’s electronics business provides safety critical systems that are vital to our national defense and the exploration of space. • Minimum of 15 years of project, design, or related electronics engineering experience.  
• Proven experience in leading complex electronic products through all stages of product development and into production.
• Experience in a high mix, low volume electronics development and manufacturing environment.
• Experience in managing, training, mentoring and coaching leaders.

Job Description

EBAD is seeking a Product Engineer with experience working in an electromechanical manufacturing environment, specifically, actuators designed for spacecraft support and to release loads. Employee will be responsible for evaluating designs for manufacturability and leading development of new products into production. Candidate will have key areas of expertise in analyzing user requirements, mechanical design, tool design, and manufacturing cell layout.

Responsibilities:

This position supports and reports directly to the Product Engineering Lead.  The Product Engineer (PE) is the technical lead on internal and external projects and is responsible for all technical and schedule aspects of the project/product throughout the production life cycle. Primary duties include:

•Create 3D conceptual models to meet customer design requirements

•Perform design trade studies and hand calculations

•Perform tolerance studies to ensure design fidelity

•Interact with customers on design, interface and functional details

•Development and maintenance of the technical data package, build package (including manufacturing instructions, routings, process specifications and tooling) as well as product testing requirements and methods.

•Provide continuity during the transition from the proposal phase to the production phase by acting as the main technical liaison between the customer and EBA&D.

•Solving manufacturing problems, investigating process failures and implementing corrective actions

•Coordination with other departments to ensure the production viability of new designs, creation of the required documentation, and internal and customer approval for this documentation.

•Interface with production personnel including operators, quality inspectors, and shop floor supervisors.

•Implementation of Lean methodologies including standard work, point of use tooling, material presentation and process improvements.

•Development of automated test fixtures and assembly tools

•Develop layouts of manufacturing cell design including tooling, machinery and equipment.

•Responsible for Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)

•Technical compliance and risk assessment

•Coordination of project team technical tasks

Requirements:

The successful candidate must have a BS/MS in an engineering discipline, preferably mechanical engineering or manufacturing engineering and a minimum 3 years of project, manufacturing or related engineering experience in multi-part mechanisms and mechanical/electromechanical assemblies. Additionally, it is desired that the candidate has experience in the following area:

•Design and application of electromechanical actuators

•Knowledge of space vehicle mechanisms and systems

•Strong SolidWorks experience is required. Must be capable of creating 3-D parts, assembly models, drawings and complete GD&T.

•Experienced in combining electromechanical components, electronics and computer control for automated test and process control

•Experience with the design of tooling and fixtures for environmental testing of space components

•Design for Manufacturing methods and techniques

•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects.

•Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

•Established project management skills with the ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

•Experienced in low volume high mix, developmental level procurement in a collaborative, fast paced, team environment.

•Experience in working with Aerospace products and processes.

•Understanding of Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing practices and in-depth understanding ERP/MRP planning systems.

•Strong skills in MS Windows – Excel, Word and Power-point.  Familiar with and able to work in MS Project.

•The candidate must have excellent writing and verbal communications skills.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $108,000 per year. Salary is determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

The Application Engineer is responsible for providing turnkey results for the successful launch of our provided hardware and software solutions. • Consult, primarily at customer location, to ensure the successful implementation and on-going use of ZEISS Scanning solutions in the long term. 

• Develop customer specific training requirements including on-sight workshops, on location training, classroom training based on understanding customer needs to ensure the installed solution is successful.

• Interface with customers engineering, quality and manufacturing team members and shop floor personnel to confirm scope of work and make decisions regarding onsite scope changes and adjust deliverables.

• Be the single point contact for collecting and consulting on relevant CAD data provided by the customer.

• Utilize ZEISS solutions to support customers’ automated scanning and inspection of parts and assemblies.

• Consult with customer to create SOP’s based on experience to increase other team members knowledge and skills.

• Create basic and advanced inspection layouts with reports based on customer requirements.

• Robot cell programming utilizing Virtual Measuring Room (VMR) to program robotic automated scanning process and populate inspection plans.

• Provide customer confidence through accurate and timely deliverables.

• Onsite support, oversight and consultations at customer installations that typically consist of 1-to-2-week engagements to assure successful rollouts and customer satisfaction.

• Onsite troubleshoot issues and take or recommend corrective actions or provide appropriate technical information to CAPTURE 3D or GOM support team for next step actions.

• Technical trade school, or equivalent education/experience or 2 years of technical related experience (inspection, quality control, metrology solutions, CAD/CAM or related type solutions is a benefit).

JOB SUMMARY 

Work as one of a team for maximum effectiveness and optimal task methods, which include operating equipment, product inspections, raw material and finished goods movements and area and equipment cleaning.  Repair and adjust production equipment to produce parts which conform to quality specifications.  Perform all job tasks to obtain a production rate equal to or greater than established standards.  Perform changeovers and line clearance.  Troubleshoot equipment including dismantling and reassembling of parts.  Facilitate continuous operation of the equipment through breaks.  Adjustable / flexible work schedule as needed by manufacturing operation requirements.  Instruct employees concerning proper jobs methods.

Hours: 7PM - 7AM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

• Set-up and operate machines to manufacture product which conforms to quality specifications, at the rated output.

• Continually monitor operations for product quality and equipment performance including final QC lot acceptance.

• Notify QC Representative and cell leader/shift supervisor of quality problems

• Repair, adjust and trouble-shoot machinery, including dismantling, replacement of parts and reassembling.  Seek assistance, as necessary, from people outside the department (engineers, controls group, tool room, etc.).

• Maintain a thorough knowledge of all products produced in the department, raw materials required, and product quality specifications.

• Maintain accurate documentation (PPH, scrap/waste, SAP and MES transactions, etc.)

• Maintain clean and organized work area.

• Support production by delivering raw materials, supplies and spare parts to the production line as needed.

• Notify facilitator/shift lead/shift supervisor of issues with equipment or operators and help to develop corrective strategy.

• Perform PM tasks assigned by facilitator.  Work with the process techs to complete PM tasks and coordinate completion of additional repairs during PM time.

• Determine critical machine repair components and maintain inventory in Parts Crib.

• Keep machinery, work area and floors neat and orderly and comply with GMP requirements.

• Propose process improvements to improve cost, efficiency, quality, and productivity of equipment while maintaining change control

• Must be familiar with all relevant controlled documents (Work Instructions, Forms, etc.), preventative maintenance task lists and equipment manuals which pertain to operation of all equipment on the line.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactively participate in safety and continuous improvement activities within work area and provide instruction to operators on Behavior Based Safety procedures.

• Executes additional duties as required by facilitator/shift lead/shift supervisor

• May be required to correct problems during off shifts and on a call-in basis.  

• Ensure efficient shift transfer through effective communication.

• Participate fully to achieve department’s safety goals.

• Debrief accidents and implement solutions to eliminate root cause.

• Other duties as assigned

• Support business needs by working overtime as necessary to satisfy schedule requirements

• Assist technical staff on machine modifications/testing, equipment validations.
