About the role
As the island Engineering Trades Assistant, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all areas of the resort and colleague village. With naturally high standards to support our own, you’ll approach every task with devotion and pride.
Your day to day
In this role, you will be responsible for completing maintenance tasks throughout the resort and Colleague Village, including utilities, pools, lakes, and ponds, as well as cleaning public areas like roads and drainage. You may also assist with garden and lawn maintenance, waste disposal, and ensuring tools are well-maintained across the department. You will conduct lighting checks, reprogram door lock systems, and respond to after-hour emergencies as needed. Additionally, you will work independently and collaboratively with other employees, adhering to all safety and compliance regulations to maintain a safe and healthy environment for everyone at the resort.
What we need from you
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or hotel resort maintenance, complemented by a Queensland safety induction White Card. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, email, and reporting tools such as HotSoS and Hardcat is essential, along with sound knowledge of maintenance equipment and engineering tools. Your problem-solving skills will help transform challenges into opportunities, ensuring that every guest leaves satisfied. Physical fitness is important for this role, as it requires being on your feet for most of the day and involves frequent bending and kneeling. Additionally, you must have a valid Queensland driver’s license to comply with local laws for driving around the resort, and possess great communication skills to be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to.
Intended commencement date for this position would be the 9th of December 2024, with the role being located on Hayman Island, Queensland.
Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.
What we offer
The base hourly rate for this position is $28.54 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
