We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic mechanical engineer to take on this critical role within the Estates Department. You will require advanced technical and professional engineering knowledge of mechanical systems as used within healthcare settings.

You will be responsible for the operational leadership and management of maintenance technical teams to maximise effectiveness, utilisation and functionality of staff resources, equipment, and materials, providing specialist management, advise and support on hospital engineering installations including medical gases, ventilation, pressure systems and decontamination plant and equipment.

The Mechanical Services Manager will act as the lead Authorised Person (AP) for decontamination, medical gas pipeline services, ventilation and pressure systems. The post holder will coordinate the activity of other AP’s, and ensure that all junior members of the team are suitably trained and appointed annually as competent/skilled persons; produce monthly productivity and exception reports for their area of control, ensuring the department continually strives to improve; oversee the installation of new equipment and ensure it meets the standards contained within national guidance documents and is environmentally sustainable.

The role will deputise for the Assistant Head of Estates in their absence.

The successful candidate will be an active member of the Estates management On-Call rota, providing management and technical support where required to junior members of the team.

The Role
