Due to career development, a vacancy for the Electrical Plant Engineering Manager has become available at our client's site in Shotton. Reporting directly to the Works Engineer that forms part of the Senior Engineering Team.
The purpose of the role is to provide the first level of engineering expertise and maintain electrical equipment capability for the site, including responsibility for the shift based Automation Technicians, Electrical Maintenance Engineers and HV Engineering teams.
The successful applicant needs to:
- Implement continuous improvement plans to strive for world-class safety, availability, quality, environmental and statutory standards within engineering
- Manage and drive the safety performance of the team to achieve a zero-harm culture
- Ensure that workforce understands and complies with all relevant engineering policies and statutory duties
- Identify and develop relationships with key external contract labour support services to facilitate cost/quality effective mechanical and electrical services, for high demand maintenance periods
- Maintain and improve positive engineering influences on plant OEE utilising Root Cause analysis tools and strategic maintenance processes
- In conjunction with Manufacturing Engineering Cells, ensure planning and control of all aspects of downshift and shutdown engineering work as requested, utilising contract
- Identify and implement design/development opportunities to improve plant reliability and availability / improve product quality utilising major maintenance strategies and budgets
- Provide engineering support for the implementation of capital schemes within Manufacturing where required
- Authorise, monitor and control expenditure on Goods and Services within the annual maintenance budget
- Ensure compliance with Company Bench Mark KPIs to achieve Annual Plan plant reliability, availability, spend and quality
- Facilitate and lead development of all elements of the Company Asset Management Framework
- Liaise with Site Development and Engineering as required to maintain team performance
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve cost effectiveness via effective downshift planning and execution
- Lead adoption of new technology and practices to continue the drive for World Class operations
- Lead and manage the Engineering team to ensure standards are maintained and developed in line with company policy and standards
- Ensure personnel are properly trained and succession plans in place
- Develop engineering skills base including support of the apprentice scheme and the engineering competency development program, to affect a robust succession plan
- To drive the implementation of PUWER compliance program for engineering
What you will need:
- You'll hold an Engineering degree or equivalent experience and be working toward Chartered status with the IET.
- Ideally you'll also have extensive management experience with a proven track record for delivering results.
- Knowledge of strip processing lines is desirable as is a thorough knowledge of Asset Management Systems.
- The successful candidate should also have a good knowledge of regulatory requirements including those related to Statutory and HSE. Aptitude in decision making, leadership and problem solving is important. The applicant must also be self-motivated and demonstrate commitment to business aims and objectives.
