Job Description
EBAD’s electronics business provides safety critical systems that are vital to our national defense and the exploration of space. This business has experienced unprecedented growth in support of our customer’s missions and is seeking an accomplished individual to fill the position of Director of Electronics Engineering. This position will be charged with leading the engineering team by developing talent, technologies, and processes that enable the business to profitably scale with this growing industry. The position is located in Simsbury, CT and will report to the Vice President of Electronics.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior electronics engineering leader to make an immediate impact by providing leadership to our electronics engineering team, driving the strategy for the electronics business, and developing a problem-solving culture in a new building, acquired and renovated to house this expanding team.
Responsibilities:
The Director of Electronics Engineering will be responsible for using the core values of the Ensign Bickford Operating System (EBOS) to develop the infrastructure, talent and processes needed to support a growing electronics business. The specific responsibilities include:
Talent Development
- Building a diverse and capable organization that delivers the Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost objectives for the EBAD Electronics Engineering team.
- Developing leaders that demonstrate EBI behavior expectations focused on nurturing strong teams and improving processes.
- Proactively taking responsibility for staff’s well-being in the workplace by leveraging employee survey results to drive actions that foster a superior work environment and a culture of belonging.
- Building a strong team by hiring and retaining top talent and providing real-time, ongoing coaching and feedback throughout the year.

Executional Excellence
- Driving engineering success by ensuring use of consistent, rigorous engineering processes, tools, methods, standards, and techniques.
- Cultivating a strong team environment with a tenacious approach to risk and requirements management and design for manufacturability, test and cost.
- Responsible for key performance indicators for development process quality (COPQ and FPY) and delivery (OTD) and using daily management to drive the performance of the organization to meet team goals and objectives.
- Building a culture of robust problem solving to ensure KPI performance through effective root cause analysis and countermeasures of systemic issues.
- Partnering with Operations and Program Management to ensure processes and talent are in place to support program execution and enable a smooth transition from engineering to production.
Strategy Deployment
- Developing and executing the technology and capability roadmap that supports the business strategy.
- Collaborating with Operations, Program Management, and Business Development leadership to align on customer and business objectives and priorities, while ensuring team capacity and capabilities support the growing business.
- Supporting business development and customer interface activities, as necessary.
Requirements:
- BS/MS in electronics, electrical, or computer engineering or physics.
- Minimum of 15 years of project, design, or related electronics engineering experience.
- Proven experience in leading complex electronic products through all stages of product development and into production.
- Experience in a high mix, low volume electronics development and manufacturing environment.
- Experience in managing, training, mentoring and coaching leaders.
