Role and Responsibilities

• Installation of CNC lasers, bending and punching machines, software and automation
• Schedule service check overs and organize service consumables with Admin
• Provide preventative breakdown maintenance to our contract customers
• Troubleshoot over the telephone and on-site
• Provide training for operators, maintenance and programmers
• Assist Sales with technical support
• Manage phone calls and correspondence

Candidate Requirements

The Estates Department at Birmingham Community Health Care NHS Trust is seeking to recruit a Multi Skilled Craftsperson

The post is primarily a mechanical maintenance position, therefore flexibility, self-motivation and a thorough knowledge of engineering building services are the key attributes along with the ability to diagnose and repair faults on various electrical installations, plant and machinery

You will have successfully completed a recognised mechanical craft apprenticeship.

You will also have suitable relevant maintenance experience (previous NHS experience would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be given) and be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of Health & Safety Legislation and Safe Working Practices.



To principally provide a comprehensive mechanical maintenance service for the repair, maintenance and minor installation of mechanical and mechanical – electrical systems. Maintenance requirements will be located at Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHC) owned, leased properties and properties where BCHC provide an estates maintenance service, via a service level agreement or management agreement.



This includes the maintenance and repair of existing assets as well as the inspection and verification testing of new equipment and systems, delivered by outside contractors, and to ensure at all times, a safe environment for patients, public and staff.



Whilst the primary task will be Mechanical work, the post holder must have a flexible approach to a range of building maintenance operations.



A team view is vital to delivering effective and efficient services to the patients and the post holder will be required to liaise directly with clinicians at a Ward level as well as the other members of the Estates and Facilities department.
