As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

You will join a cross-functional team that ensures equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for quality and reliability. In this critical role, you will be able to use your technical background and experience to deliver key outcomes, whilst ensuring your safety and that of your colleagues are a priority.

This is a shift position working on a 4:4 12-hour 24 x 7 rotating roster, consisting of rotating days and night shifts, Monday through to Sunday.

What will you do?

With your proven understanding of industrial electrical systems, in this role you will:

• follow the safe system of work and develop isolation instructions and job safety analysis for the required work
• perform safe, efficient and effective emergency repairs
• fault-find on electrical equipment including PLC’s and drive systems
• fault find on steel processing equipment and cranes

Machine Learning Integration Engineer

Videalert is the UK's leading supplier of intelligent traffic enforcement and management solutions.

Due to continued growth, we have a brand-new opportunity for a Machine Learning Integration Engineer to join our team. This is a full time, permanent position.

As an ML Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for integrating and deploying machine learning models into our production environment. You will be working with other teams within Videlaert and Vortex IoT [our sister company] in identifying and solving problems and seeking out new opportunities to apply machine learning and Edge AI techniques within the process.

Role & responsibilities

* Working on our current and future projects building software using data from cameras across the UK with ANPR, traffic analytics, road user classification and other smart cities applications.
* Writing production-level code in C/C++ and/or Python.
* Integrating machine learning models into our codebase and deploying them to production.
* Optimising and quantising ML models for various architectures, with a preference for CPU, using open-source platforms like OpenVINO.
* Applying computer vision techniques and leveraging cutting-edge deep learning architectures for Edge AI applications.
* Collaborating with the team on numerical and statistical programming using Python,NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, PaddlePaddle.
* Conducting unit testing and analysis to ensure robust and reliable ML integrations, ensuring that the models produce accurate results in real-world applications.

What we are looking for

* A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, machine learning, data science, or a related field.
* Proficient in using Python for numerical/statistical programming & proficient in writing code in C/C++.
* Proficient with optimising and quantising ML models, preferably for CPU, using open-source platforms such as OpenVINO.
* Knowledge of ML frameworks, computer vision techniques, data preprocessing, and model deployment techniques.
* Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and creative approach to challenges.
* Adaptability to stay up to date with evolving technologies and methodologies in ML integration**.**

What you’ll need

• Professional working knowledge in building a mobile experience for variable screen sizes in variable versions of Android
• Strong knowledge of Android SDK, Android UI design principles, patterns, and best practices
• Experience in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, co-routines and performance tuning
• Fantastic knowledge of the open-source Android ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks and benchmarking and optimisation
• Proficient in Google's Android design principles, interface guidelines and code versioning tools, such as Git
• Hands-on experience of continuous delivery across areas such as code reviewing; understanding of App architectures (i.e. MVVM, MVI) and you’ll be confident with best practices libraries

And any experience of these would be really useful

• Cloud message APIs and push notifications
• JavaScript WebView bridging, as well as knowledge of RESTful APIs and web services

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Cokemaking and Ironmaking Technology team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Coke & Iron Product Engineer. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

The Cokemaking process is an integral part of our manufacturing operations and is one of the first steps in creating Iron and Steel. In this essential role, you will steward and focus on the quality of our coal and coke production.

With an analytical and scientific approach, you will provide technical advice to the Cokemaking Operations. We will support and develop you to apply this knowledge and develop recommendations on improvement opportunities from concept to implementation. You’ll build a detailed metallurgical knowledge of the Ironmaking process, including our coke, sinter and blast furnace operations.

• a willingness to learn and develop your skills with a continuous drive in improving procedures and process
• an understanding that you will be working in areas with high temperatures, with heavy equipment, outdoors, around conveyor and stockpile systems with general lifting requirements
